I live in Foresthill, CA. I recently discovered a copy of a 25 page, hand written document that details the history of the Miles family, starting with Joshua Ballard Miles, my great-great-great-grand father. I found the document (copy) in a file of my mother's after she passed away in May of this year. The document starts out saying "Joshua Ballard Miles & a brother came to the States but we don't know when they landed or where. Joshua Ballard Miles was born in Ireland Nov. 11, 1794. Married Elizabeth Prier 11/27/1816, they had several children then she died. He then married Elizabeth Hale and they had a host of children", and it goes on for 24 more pages detailing who married who, and dates and children born. My mother was Opal Carolyn Rial, born to Leonard C. Rial & L. Bertie Rial (Miles) in 1931 in McArthur, Ark. Bertie Miles was daughter of Oliver "Jack" Miles & Melissa Miles(Phillips)born in Monticello, Ark. in 1909. Jack was born in 1878 to Harv! ey Roger Miles & McCloe Miles(Jones). Harvey Roger Miles was born Oct. 2, 1836 to Joshua B. Miles & either Elizabeth Prier or Elizabeth Hale, don't know as there is no record of Elizabeth Prier's death. I'd love to find out more about the Miles family. As I staed my grand mother, Bertie Miles was born in Monticello, Ark. in 1909, and my mother in McArthur, Ark. in 1931.
