Balaam Bentley established the tannery c. 1800. The exact location remains unknown. The current owners have done quite a bit of research and have tried to locate it. The Community of Leathersville and Leathersville Road were names for the tanner. Bentleys and Smalleys lived on the property during the 1800s. The original house (with log supports) still stands and is the home of the Hunts. They have probably done the most research. My brother also has more information than I do.
