I've just recently identified James Evans as being my gg, so it's possible that they could be related. That would explain why his son William (my ggrandfather) married Anna CASH from Harris County. In 1870 William was living with his parents in Chatham County, GA. My grandfather was born Feb. 1873 in Poughkeepsie, NY. To William EVANS and Sadie IV(E)Y His sister Lucy in 1875. June 1880 in a letter to his mother-in-law he was sending his and Anna CASH's son Jimmie to live with Mrs. Cash as he wasn't able to care for him after the death of his wife. Lucy went to life with her grandparents James and Permelia in Bibb County, GA. If Matilda and James are brother and sister, it's possible that William visited with them after his return to GA and met Anna. EVANS has been my brick wall and going to keep chipping away.
