    3. Did James Evans had a sister or relative named Matilda? The second wife of my Anthony Stribling of Lincoln Co. was Matilda Evans. They moved to Harris Co. GA by 1840 Census. They married in Lincoln Co. Dec. 23, 1831. Cynthia My gggrandparents were married in Lincoln, GA: Name: James E.[Rev] Evans Spouse: Permelia J. Mays Marriage Date: 25 Mar 1831 Marriage Location: Lincoln, Georgia My grandfather (James Jefferson EVANS) was sent to Harris County in the early 1880's to live with his half brothers grandparents after his step mother's death. He never saw his father, sister or grandparents again. Poppa grew up thinking he wasn't wanted by anyone. He and my grandmother (Lily Lee "Dora" ROSAMOND) had 13 children - I'm 1 of 35 grandchildren. He many not of felt love growing up, but he was loved by many at the time of his death. Happy Family Hunting, kemis massey sobbygenealogy@knology.net

    3. I am researching the Anthony Stribling family of Lincoln Co. GA, around 1800-1830's, formerly of Wilkes Co. He was a constable in Lincoln Co. in 1804. I think they lived in the Pistol Creek area. Haven't looked at this in a while. Cynthia

Thier daughter, Florentine, married Stephen Barfield and lived in Palestine Township of Bradley County, Arkansas. I believe she and Stephen are buried in Johnsville Cemetery. (I think that's the name of it.) There is a record of a Jane and James York in 1850. 1 159 159 York James 62 M Farmer Ga. 2 159 159 York Jane 56 F Ga. 3 159 159 York Terrel C. 25 M Farmer Ga. 4 159 159 York Jane 17 F Ga. 5 159 159 York Susan S. 15 F Ga. And of Florentine and her family. I've heard that there are still people living there of the York and Barfield family, but I don't know about the Florence family. If anyone knows anything, it'd probably be in Bardley County, although where- I don't know, or in the land records in Georgia. There should be something on Jane's parents, whether they owned land or not. If you where John and Jane Florence were married, the county and state, that would be the best place to start. Court and marriage records should tell where the people are from and how old they were. I know of a copy of John's grand daughter, Florentine, marriage or death certificate. Something like that would help. Other than that I don't know anything else right now. I hope at least some of this helps.
