I've just recently identified James Evans as being my gg, so it's possible that they could be related. That would explain why his son William (my ggrandfather) married Anna CASH from Harris County. In 1870 William was living with his parents in Chatham County, GA. My grandfather was born Feb. 1873 in Poughkeepsie, NY. To William EVANS and Sadie IV(E)Y His sister Lucy in 1875. June 1880 in a letter to his mother-in-law he was sending his and Anna CASH's son Jimmie to live with Mrs. Cash as he wasn't able to care for him after the death of his wife. Lucy went to life with her grandparents James and Permelia in Bibb County, GA. If Matilda and James are brother and sister, it's possible that William visited with them after his return to GA and met Anna. EVANS has been my brick wall and going to keep chipping away. Hello to the List, In answer to Carol Cox question on the lineage of William Trammell and Elizabeth Baugh: Many of us have spent the greatest portion of our lives researching this family of Trammells. My own lineage comes from Thomas and Susan Trammell in Chambers County, Alabama through their son, Wiley Trammell who also married a Baugh, Barbary Baugh. That is the reason for our own chase. We have no proof other than they lived next door to Thomas and Susan when they were in Chambers County, AL. Some researchers of my line think Moses Baugh is the ancestor but I think he was born too late to be the one. My personal guess is Daniel Baugh, but again, no proof. There are countless connections in our family to the Baughs. I was born a Trammell and so that was the surname I researched the most and the longest to start with. Our lines started in this country in Truro Parish, Fairfax County, Virginia. The area around Falls Church, Virginia is rich in Trammell history. The ones who left went on to Hillsborough, North Carolina and were there during the Revolution. Others moved on to South Carolina and Lincoln County, Georgia. After the War of 1812 they started using their land lotteries and moving into Alabama, Chambers being one of the counties. Later some went on to Floyd County, Georgia and then to Texas and points West. My great-grandfather was born in Chambers County, AL and his parents were married in Lincoln County, GA. which caused all of us to spend a great deal of time researching those two areas. Nothing else has come to light that is new in many years. I do hope someone will finally part with a shred of info or a document to help the cause someday. Otherwise we can work both sides of the timeline but we will still get stuck in Georgia and Alabama as far as documentation goes. There are many who are better researchers than me and they can't say for sure on very much either. Just do the best you can and pray like the rest of us for a break. I have in my file Daisy Agnes "Aggie" Trammell as being born 18 May 1878 in Floyd County, Georgia. She died 1 May 1918. She married George Lee Trammell on 27 Dec 1896 in Floyd County, Georgia. I only have one child of this union listed and she was Mary Emma Trammell born 7 Nov 1905 in Floyd County, Georgia. Daisy was the daughter of William Henry Clay Trammell and Mary E. McGinnis who married 31 May 1861 in Floyd County, GA. William H.C. was born Aug 1844 in Georgia and died 25 Aug 1916 in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia and was buried at Oakland Cemetery. Mary was born 1846 in Georgia and died after 1920. They had at least nine children: Mattie M., Eddie, Joseph Harper, Alice, Daisy Agnes, Lucy, Frank Stanton, Eunice, and William H. Trammell. William Henry Clay Trammell was the son of William Trammell and Elizabeth Baugh. William Trammell born 1804 Lincoln County, GA was the son of William Trammell born 1764 Fairfax County, VA. and his mother is not yet known. William Trammell born 1764 Fairfax County, VA was the son of Thomas Trammell born 1710 Stafford County, VA who died in Wilkes County, GA and Elizabeth Sebastian. Thomas Trammell born 1710 Stafford County, Va was the son of John Trammell born 1677 Stafford County, VA who died in Falls Church, Virginia and Mary Gerrard Hutt. John Trammell born 1677 Stafford County, Va was the son of Thomas Trammell born 1650 Devonshire, England and Mary Alice Williams. Will keep looking but this was all I had on them in a quick check. Hope it was helpful. Barbara Trammell Black Athens, Texas ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

We have two Trammell lines, ancestors of cousins (degree unknown, not 1st cousins) who married in Floyd Co., Georgia in 1896. The husband was George Lee Trammell, whose father was Dennis Trammell, born in Lincoln Co. in 1818. I believe he was the son of Thomas and Susan Trammell, but I haven't been able to document it. Dennis moved to Chambers Co., Alabama, then to Floyd Co., Georgia. The wife of this cousin/couple was Daisy Agnes Trammell, granddaughter of William Trammell who was born about 1804 in Lincoln Co. William Trammell married Elizabeth Baugh in Lincoln Co. in 1825. They later moved to Floyd Co., Georgia. I would love to find some proof of the parents of Dennis Trammell, William Trammell, and Elizabeth Baugh. Does anyone on the list know who they were? There are Evans and families related to Arnett . There is a John Quirns(Qearns) Arnett line .. Robert Coleman Arnett line .. with these. Trying to research these leads me to a cemetary with a marked grave with seashells, and many unmarked burials. Some of these Arnett were from Chester.. they mix with the Cullars in Wilkes and Lincoln Counties, and I cannot get time to actually get back over to research into these lines. My husband has a number of Lincoln Co. families: HAWES, MOSELY/MOSELEY, TRAYLOR & ROBERTSON (of McCormick & Edgefield SC also) I have WILLIAMSON from Edgefield Co. My gggrandparents were married in Lincoln, GA: Name: James E.[Rev] Evans Spouse: Permelia J. Mays Marriage Date: 25 Mar 1831 Marriage Location: Lincoln, Georgia James was a Methodist minister and they changed churches every 2 years. I know that he was at churches in Bibb, Floyd and Chatham Counties (multiple times in Bibb and Chatham). I've found other EVANS in Lincoln but no MAYS - any help out there? EVANS was the 1st line I started on and my brick wall. I just found my gggrandparents this year. BTW - today is our 37th annual EVANS family reunion in Harris County, GA. My grandfather (James Jefferson EVANS) was sent to Harris County in the early 1880's to live with his half brothers grandparents after his step mother's death. He never saw his father, sister or grandparents again. Poppa grew up thinking he wasn't wanted by anyone. He and my grandmother (Lily Lee "Dora" ROSAMOND) had 13 children - I'm 1 of 35 grandchildren. But since I know there are others out there I'm posting my queries. A list will only be a quiet as you let it be. So here goes. He many not of felt love growing up, but he was loved by many at the time of his death. I'm working on the Ammons family. Jacob married Malinda Carlile in 1817.
My 5 great grandfather was Josiah Stovall. I descend through his daughter, Mary Polly, who married William Ratliff and then, on William's death, her cousin, Stephen Stovall. Linda ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
<I'm researching Stovall,Cline,Jones,Crumley,Hyatt and Whelchel in Georgia. Most of my Lincoln county search is for Josiah Stovall and his family.> I descend through Josiah Stovall's daughter, Mary Polly Stovall. Would love to hear from you and compare notes. I am searching the family of Robert and Patsy Hammack Leverett who were originally in Wilkes Co as early as 1784. Because of the county boundary changes he ultimately died in Lincoln in 1806. Would like definite proof he is from Virginia. Charlotte ctucker@dbtech.net

Does anyone have an idea of how to increase the traffic on this list? Maybe if we listed the names we are looking for in Lincoln County. My interests are in Murray, Norman, Glaze, Jones, Crook. We have some connection to Hawes and others.
