Double Branches is now the name of a church/cemetery, and I suspect and long defunct community, near Lincolnton. The cemetery is still in use. I believe some of it was moved when a dam backed up the river and expanded its banks into part of the original. It is very close at least. It has been a number of years since we visited and photographed the stones of my husband's ancestors who are buried there. His great grandparents were married at Double Branches in 1890. I am Frannie's granddaughter, Pam. I remember coming to your house with Granny when I was a little girl. Not too long ago, I got a letter from Johnny (Burgess) saying that he had been in contact with your sister and he gave a bit of an update. I had wondered what happened to all of you. In the letter, Johnny mentioned that Daniel is in Spartanburg, SC (working). I now live in Spartanburg. It has been a while since your post, so I'm not sure if you still check on this thread, but I wanted to let you know that I have a picture of your dad that you might be interested in. I'm going to try and post it to my tree so that you can view it if you'd like. When Granny died, I was able to get some of her photos (temporarily). I'm in the process of coping the ones I have so that I can send out to family. The main problem is that with Granny gone, I've lost most of my contacts. I'm new to ancestry, so not sure how all this works yet. If I find a better way to contact you, I will. William H. Glaze (WHG), Jane Glaze's father, was the second son and second child of Thomas Glaze Sr., and Milly Frazier. He was born 9-1-1785 in Granville Co., NC. He second married Nancy Arnett, daughter of Samuel Arnett and Ann Spear. He died sometime before 2-7-1859. He is buried in the Glaze Family Cemetery, east of Midland, Harris Co., GA. The dates on his headstone read born 9-1-1787 and died 1850, but these dates do not correspond with the dates given by Milly Frazier Glaze in her pension application. In fact, he does appear in the 1850 census of Harris Co., HH 46. Nancy Arnett was born 9-1807 in SC, and died 4-9-1887. She is also buried in the Glaze Family Cemetery. by Lonnie Deaton There were several William Glaze in Georgia, care should be taken in placing them! I seem to see the name Spear. Others have said Ann Ashmore, and Ann Catching.... can you determine correctly? ~Walter --- Antivirus: Outbound message clean. Here is a site that has more maps. It is pretty good. http://www.cviog.uga.edu/Projects/gainfo/histcountymaps/lincolnhistmaps.htm Liz -----Original Message----- From: galincol-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:galincol-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of wcullars Sent: Friday, August 08, 2008 4:14 PM To: GALINCOL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [GALINCOL] Sybert Lincoln County & Soap Creek I located on a map, that Soap Creek runs away fron east to west in the north Lincolnto area which is south of Prater Road. There is also, first, a Richards Creek. I would dearly like to see early plat of the lands between Metasville Rd, and hwy79 n. down the creek beds... Thinking George Cullars was born in Sybert, with the graves site on the road... All that land could have been originally Cullars property. Seeking the burial location of Matthew Cullars. ~Walter L.
