Do you think there is a place on the internet where we could hear this music, or choir? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis Benarz" <benarz@hotmail.com> To: <galicia@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 15, 2008 6:18 AM Subject: [GALICIA] Tis The Season > Wesolych Swiat / Seasons Greetings! > > Play a musical instrument or like to sing? Hi Karen Sure. Just do a Google search using keywords "mp3 koledy chor". (This translates to "mp3 carols choir".) You'll get over 8000 search results but not all of them will be websites with free downloads. Still, it's certainly worth a shot. Occasionally the websites of church choirs here in North America will have MP3 sample downloads of their Christmas performances, but that is really hit-or-miss. However, I found a really beautiful MP3 version of "Serdeczna Matko" (Beloved Mother) sung by the men's choir of a church in upstate New York a couple of years ago so I won't dismiss this possibility. It might be easier to drive to your local music shop, visit their "ethnic" section, and buy a CD. Of course, here in Chicago we are blessed with a large variety of shops run by native Poles, so Polish Christmas CDs are pretty easy to find. Even at the delis and bookstores. At the Spuscizna Group, we exclusively use music files in the MIDI format (rather than MP3 and other formats) because they are small in size and fast to download, making them perfect for use as background music on our pages. Keep in mind that many North American and 92% of Polish internet connections are made by dialup rather than DSL or high speed, so we strive to keep things quick and easy for our viewers. Alas, the downside is that MIDI files can only reproduce musical instrumentals not vocals. Good luck! By the way, my personal favorite koledy is "Dzisiaj w Betlejem", but I'll bet you'll get a kick out of "Biala Gwiazda".
