    3. Hi everyone, I hope you can point me in the right direction. Bear with me, I am very new at this! My grandfather's family (Wosachlo) is from Olchowiec, as I found from ship manifests, and I was able to narrow it down to six Olchowiec villages. The family is also listed as being from Galicia so after some research I was able to narrow it down to two. The first is in the administrative district of Gmina Czarna in Bieszczady county in the Subcarpathian voivodeship and the other is Gmina Dukla in Krosno county, same voivodeship. I have absloutely nothing to go on from my family, everyone is deceased that would have any knowledge at all. I was able to locate some churches in the Dukla area but that is where my trouble lies. I found the archdioscese for Liblin which says it includes Dukla, but that voivodeship is for another village called Olchowiec. I assume there were no churches in the village since my reasearch shows anywhere from 400 people to 10 people in each village. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction? Thank you for any direction! Deb _________________________________________________________________ Windows 7: I wanted simpler, now it's simpler. 2. Do you know if your grandfather's family were ethnic Poles or Carpatho-Rusyns? Were they Roman Catholic or Greek Catholic? This information will help to narrow things down. According to Brian Lenius' "Genealogical Gazetteer of Galicia" there were 5 villages in Galicia named OLCHOWIEC: 1) in the adminstrative distric of HORODENKA with a Roman Catholic parish in CZERNELICA & a Greek Catholic parish in KORNIOW 2) in the district of BRZEZANY, RC parish in BRZEZANY, GC patish in OLCHOWIEC 3) in the district of BOBRKA, RC in STARE STOLO, GC in OLCHOWIEC 4) in the district of KROSNO, RC in ZMIGROD NOWY, GC in OLCHOWIEC 5) in the district of BORSZCZOW, RC in MIELNICA, GC in OLCHOWIEC Hope this is of some help, and is not confusing. Good genealogy of any ethnic grouping is a methodical hobby. Think "Tortoise and the Hare" <g> What time frame are we discussing? 19th, 20th century? Poland changed geographic interior boundaries a few years ago. What applies today will not help you find records from 50/100 years ago. What do you know specifically and where did you find it? Don't tell us what you think. You say manifests--what manifests, time frame? Do you have death, marriage, birth records, etc.? We are very willing to help, but need basic info. PolishDragon@att.net
