Many, many years ago, my sister had documented that Tekla's parents were: Albert and Catherine Lis. However, her source was a verbal conversation from a family member who has since passed. I could find no other verification of this and I have also learned that it is not uncommon for memories be incorrect. With the two manifests listing places in Galicia, I now have places to continue my search. My atlas is out and on the table! Thank you for all of your help. The actual marriage records from the church where Tillie and John were married would be a possible source, depending on the record keeping. Couples were required to have baptismal certificates from their home parish, which listed parents. Once you locate the exact town or parishes of your ancestors, you can check to see if records were microfilmed by the LDS. These microfilms can be ordered from your local Family History Center and are kept there for about a month; they are renewable. If you live in Chicago, check the Washington Library to see if the films are already there.
