    1. [GALICIA] August 15 - Feast of the Assumption
    2. Dennis Benarz
    3. Tomorrow, August 15, is celebrated by Catholics around the world as the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. For Poles, the day is especially significant since they acknowledge Mary as the Queen of Poland, who chose her throne at Jasna Gora (translated, "Bright Hill") and its monastery/fortress run by the Pauline Fathers. For some days now, tens of thousands of Polish pilgrims have been walking the various roads in a common quest - to gather together and pay homage to their queen: Czarna Madonna, the Black Madonna, also called Our Lady of Czestochowa. With photos taken recently in Poland that arrived just in time for us to tell the tale of their spiritual trek, click: http://spuscizna.org/spuscizna/pilgrims.html . By the way, Karen Wisniewski arrived home with these images on Tuesday and she and I have been burning the midnight oil preparing them for display on this special (for us, at least) web page. And we were blessed - we beat the August 15 deadline. We hope you enjoy viewing it. Dennis Benarz http://spuscizna.org/

    3. Dennis and Karen Thanks so much for the beautiful pictures and wonderful music. I grew up in the Bronx, New York in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Also my sister, Ginny and I were in Poland and at Jasna Gore in August 26 2006. It was just a marvelous trip and we also met 2 first cousins that I didn't know existed. Had to cancel 2 planned trips back to Poland due to unsuccessful spinal fusion back surgery. Thanks again.
