    3. Dublin Post, 17 Nov 1880: "Master Octavius Hilbun was riding a mule last Saturday, when, for some reason, there grew up a misunderstanding which finally resulted in Octavius crawling out of a brush heap with a map of the Okfenokee swamp on his face." Dublin Post, 11 May 1881: "On Monday morning as Mr. M. V. Hilbun was crossing the river with a one-ox team, and the flat was about twenty yards from the eastern bank, his oxship jumped into the river. The wheels failed to go over the side of the flat and the ox's head was kept under the water till Mr. Braxton Beacham, who was in the flat, pushed the cart out. Then the ox came to the surface and floated off down stream with the cart. Two darkeys from the west side took a bateun(?), went to the relief of the floating team, unyoked the ox and let him swim to shore. The cart was then floated out also. Mr. Hilbun was knocked out of the flat and swam ashore without injury. George V Hilburn [email protected]
