    3. George V Hilburn [email protected] Dublin Post, August 8, 1878: Another Good Man Gone, Mr. Willis Carter of the extreme eastern portion of this county died on last Sunday of cancer in the face. He was a gentleman of strict integrity and genuine worth, and as noble-hearted a man as ever lived. Dublin Post, Sept 4, 1878: Obituary, Died at his residence in Laurens County, August 2, 1878, Mr. Willis Carter, aged eighty years. He leaves behind a wife, seven children, and a large circle of friends to mourn his loss. Truly the people have lost a good neighbor, and the county a good citizen and a man upright in all his dealings. His heart and hand were open to the needy. We believe the county has lost one of her best men. For the writer of this brief notice has lived a near neighborto him for thirty-five years, and always found him a kind-hearted gentleman, a loving husband, and an affectionate father. But we mourn not as those who have no hope; we believe our loss is his eternal gain. A Friend Some of the once-a-week newspapers can be searched at the following location.
