Per oral family history, John was a son of Theophilus Coleman of NC. In April of 200 a Jerry Floyd responded to a listing and said that the Theophilus estate mentions two minor sons, James and John. He also states that Jonathan and Josey Coleman witnessed his will. In May Barbara Nation posted this court info: 07-00-1816 No named executor in Theophilus Coleman will. Court granted letters of administration to Jonathan Coleman, with will annexed. $5000 bond with Nancy Coleman, Josey Coleman, Polly Coleman, Jeremiah Coleman and Jeremiah Coney as securities. Ordered Henry Pitts, Neill Munroe, Needham Cock, Andrew Hampton and Archibald Griffen to appraise. 07-01-1816 $5000 bond with Jonathan Coleman, Nancy Coleman, Josey Coleman, Polly Coleman, Jeremiah Coleman and Jeremiah Coney as securities for Jonathan Coleman as administrator of the estate of Theophilus Coleman. Clerk Amos Love. 08-05-1816 $2000 bond with Nancy Coleman, Jonathan Coleman, Josey Coleman and Polly Coleman as securities for Nancy Coleman as guardian for James Coleman and John Coleman, orphans of Theophilus Coleman. Witnessed by Amos Love. 01-02-1816 - Theophilus Coleman will .No named legatees. Equal division among them all. Witnesses Jeremiah Coney, Jonathan Coleman and Josey Coleman. Will probated July 2, 1816. 01-04-1819 $2000 bond with Jeremiah Coney and Joel Coney as securities for Jeremiah Coney as guardian of John Coleman, orphan of Theophilus Coleman. Lastly, according to oral family history another child John and Mary was George Washington Coleman. I am thinking that John must have died between 1850 and 1860 because in 1860 In Wilkinson Co. Elizabeth (12) is in the home of Billue and 2 houses away George W. and William (both with property) are in the home Thomas Dupree. And in Laurens Co in 1860 John H. (another brother of Polly and Elizabeth) is in the home of Mary D. CONEY, along with a 20 year old Joel Coney. I hope this information helps . . . Sharon
