Hi Darleen, I have forgotten exactly what I sent you re: Colby Smith but his memorial is quite impressive. It is located in Washington Co., GA along state highway 15 at Montgomery Road just yards from the grave sites of Colby Smith, Thomas Wood, John Lawson Irwin and Governor Jared Irwin. The walkway bricks are engraved with the names of the hundreds of supporters and descendants. There are four bricks there for my grandmother (Martha Jane New Belflower), my father (Harry Esra Belflower), myself and my late granddaughter (Jaclyn Marie Belflower). The site is just a couple of miles south of Sandersville, Georgia. It was dedicated October 26, 1996 and among the guests of honor were my cousins the late Mrs. Tommy Dorsey and the Honorable Jacob New. Colby and Rebecca's daughter Anne Colby Smith married Thomas Wood in 1903 in Washington County. I am descended from that union. Thomas's father was Revolutionary War Lieutenant James E. Wood (b. Loudon Co., VA). He was granted land in Georgia as a result of his Rev. War service and is my GGGGrandfather. His father was Samuel Wood, b. May 2, 1737, Leicestershire, England. Samuel was the son of a wealthy woolen manufacturer in that city. He and his five brothers immigrated to the Virginia colony around 1755. Samuel enlisted in the army and served as George Washington's personal secretary in the French and Indian Wars. Hope this answers your questions. I have nothing on Daniel Smith. Harry Belflower
