My gggrandfather was William H. Hughes who was the son of George and Rhoda Garrett Hughes from Laurens, SC. George and Rhoda had a son named Thomas who was born August 8, 1793. He could have been in GA by 1820. Several of the brothers moved to GA including my William. Later, some moved on to AL and others to MS and I think perhaps TX. The fact that the name of a child was Darcus may be significant. Rhoda Garrett Hughes had a sister named Dorcus and Thomas could have named a child after this aunt.
