I am researching the African-American family of Early Jackson, alias Early Horn, on his Civil War Pension Application. He married Charity Hamilton is Lowndes Co., GA before her emancipation. On his Disability Affidavit he states that he lived in Madison Co., FL for 4 years and "Abany? Georgia Laurence Co. Where I was born and I lived there all my former day till I went to Madison.". Could this be Albany? He specifically states Laurence Co., but could this be Laurens? Sure could use some help on trying to figure out where Early was actually born. I believe Early was a free African-American. He fought as a Private with F2 US Colored Infantry (Union). Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Karen
