I saw something interesting in a previous post but did not comment on it -- the name, NEWSOME. Now that the SCOTTS have been thrown on the table, I will comment on this bunch. The SCOTTS and the NEWSOMS were tied up in Putnam County, GA. The STOKES were also in this little group. There were WILLIAMS, BARNES, EDWARDS and NEWSOME in this bunch. Some of these families also tie into families in Wilkes, Elbert, Morgan and probably Greene County, GA. The STOKES were originally from Lunenburg Co, Virginia and moved to Elbert County, GA. the progenitor, William STOKES (1735-1894) was married to a Sarah WADE. Most of these families are around my DANIEL family of Jefferson and Morgan County, GA though I do not connect to them, except through the SCOTTS who marry into the KILPATRICK that connect to my bunch in Madison, Morgan County, GA. There may also be a HUDSON in this bunch because this it is a middle name in some of the SCOTTS of Putnam County, GA. John R.
