I have been attempting to find a connection to a Stokes/Dixon line, and think they might be an aunt or uncle to mine. My line descends from a Joel D. Stokes of Sumter, SC, who was married to Harriet DuBose. His mother was an unnamed Dixon. He had a brother named Dixon Stokes. Any leads or connection would be greatly appreciated.     3. Wilkinson County Collection by Joseph Maddox (1970's) says Sampson Dixon, wife Savil Stokes, were listed in Wilkinson's 1830 census. Maddox surmised that Sampson and William Dixon were brothers.
