While researching my Cadwell/Caddell/etc. family of Moore Co. NC I discovered the name of Micajah Cadwell in land records of Moore Co. NC. A James Cadwell was living in Cumberland Co. NC as early as 1767. The other names listed in the area in land and other records were as follows: John Cadwell, Jonathan Cadwell, William Cadwell, Daniel Cadwell, Benjamin Cadwell, James Cadwell Jr., Mary/Polly Cadwell who married John Melton Glasscock in Moore Co. NC. John Cadwell married Mary Keyes in 1785 in Moore Co. NC. He moved to Pend Dist. SC before 1800 and is listed in the 1800 census there. He is also mentioned in the will of Meshack Green, dated 1799. John Cadwell moved to Christian Co. KY before 1810, remained there for a number of years, living near Hopkinsville. By 1833 he moved to Pike Co. IL. Several of his children were married in Christian Co. KY and Pike Co. IL. I do not know when he died. Some of the Cad! wells/Caddells remained in the Moore Co. NC area. I descend from John Cadwell and Mary Keyes through their son, Moses Cadwell, b. 1796 in NC and d. in 1874 in Shelby Co. MO. Moses Cadwell married Mary Ann Kesterson, d/o George Kesterson and Letitia Baker who were originally from VA and moved to Green Co. TN about 1795. George was living in the Christian/Caldwell Co. KY area before 1806 when Mary Ann was born. I believe Micajah was a younger brother to John Cadwell. Micajah appears to be in Montgomery Co. GA as early as 1805/1806. Would like to hear from you.
