One of my Dent uncles was Campbell Merida Dent. He was born in 1840 in Jackson County, AL. He was the son of Joseph and Lucinda Dent, both born in GA. Joseph born between 1780-1790 and Lucinda born in 1793. This Dent family was in Jackson County at least by 1818. My problem with this family has been locating a place of birth in GA for Joseph and Lucinda. I have suspicions that they might have come from or come through Laurens County. Their son Campbell Merida, ended up marrying a woman named Leeta (or Letta) Bracewell. Her family was definitely from Laurens County. Also in doing the census checking I have found Dents in the county. In particular I have found a John Dent who was born about 1800 in GA. Anyone out there researching either the Bracewell or Dent families in this area? Any help or correspondence would be appreciated!
