    1. Re: [[GALAUREN]] SMITH, HARDEN
    2. Darlene, I am a descendant of Colby (Colesby) Smith and Rebecca Anne Henry and their daughter Anne Colby Smith who married Thomas R. Wood in Washington Co., GA in 1803. I show ten children for Colby and Rebecca between 1775 and 1798. None are named Henry. Most of Anne Colby Smith's siblings are known only by their first names so it is possible that a Henry did exist. He could be a "lost" child or one of the boys with the middle name of Henry. Also, Laurens County did not exist until 1807 and was formed from parts of two of the original counties of Washington and Wilkinson. Additionally, I believe that Colby Smith's parents were Thomas Smith of Virginia and Sara Ann (Anita/Anne) Colby of New Jersey and Mass. Rebecca's parents were Micajah Henry and Rebecca UNKNOWN. My son and I spent considerable time working with Patrick Henry's ancestry in an effort to link Rebecca but about the best that we could come up with was that she may have been a cousin (second?) to Patrick. My line from Colby and Rebecca is: Wood/New/Belflower Good luck on your research, Harry Belflower

He moved from Laurens Co to Houston County then to Muscogee County then to Dale County, Ala. My parents moved to Houston County in 1966; I taught there for 22 years but now live in VA. My father published a book on the Deans from Richard, Elijah's father, on down: The Deans 200 Years Across the South. Elijah had a military district in Houston County named for him. He wrote and received permission not to go on the "trail of tears"; I have always wondered whether or not it was convenience or conscience, but the post about his order to attack an innocent Indian village may offer some possible answers. He is mentioned in the book This Land So Dedicated about the history of Houston County. If you or anyone out there has any information on his involvement in the Indian wars, I will really appreciate a contact. Sharon Dean Lee

In 1820, cornelius was living one household away from henry clark. ages match up for a female in the household that could be elizabeth. Also found a cornelius grantham (appears to be the same one) living in Darlington SC in 1810, with a female that would match . we know elizabeth was born in SC. can't prove it but Ted clark, who has done quite a bit of work, thinks it is likely. the clark researchers are getting together in Dublin in January, I know it would be a long way to come, but would love it if you could make it. also have some more information on the Walden line. Contact me when you get the chance.
