My grandfather died in 1925 and there was no record of it in Atlanta. They told me to go to the local health dept. That is where I was finally able to locate both his (dod 16 Aug 1925) and my ggrandfather's (dod 18 May 1933). Seems like Laurens did not share their death certificates freelly. Just don't be surprised if sometimes you can't get them from Atlanta and have to go to the county of death. Linda

If it is before that time you have to go to the health dept there in Dublin to get it. They will only search thru a one year period of time for the $10.00 submission fee. My gg-grandfather died in 1933 and that is where I had to go to get his death certificate. Just in case you didn't know.

I purchased one for a relative of mine and it had a box that showed place of burial. I can't guarantee that the space will be filled in but its worth a shot. The death certificate number for your relative is 26058 (obtained from ancestry dot com )and you have all the other info you need. Here is the link to purchase the certificate. You will have to fill in the info online and print it out and mail it in. http://health.state.ga.us/programs/vitalrecords/deathform.asp

The county seat is in Dublin Georgia and since you know his date of death you might try to call the main Library in Dublin and ask for the geneology room. There are several nice ladies that work there that would probably look up the obit in the main Dublin paper (if there was one) for you. You might also check with the Funeral Home that handled the arrangements. They would likely have that information also. Good Luck. I have been down this road also but the one I was researching was from 1936. They don't make it easy for you.

    3. Hi, you do not get them through the UDC. YOU get them through the VA and they are free. It takes a few months but the US Veterans Administration will furnish them, free of charge, for any documented CSA veteran. Contact your local state VSO ( veterans service officer) for details. If fact they are cutting one for my grandfather, JOHN Clarke RICHTER, Sr ( 1848-1907) of Madison, right now. HE was a PVT in Company "A," Georgia Cadets (1864-65) and we will get the SCV to install it, with full military honors, after it comes in. MY cousin, the Hon. R. W. CROOK of Baton Rouge, is the SCV State Commander for the State of Louisiana, and Bobby will handle all of the SCV honor guard details for us. John R. Clarke 229-228-1961 2417 N.
