I have a little bit on this family: Andrew Jackson Graham was b. 29 Feb and d. 11 may 1935. He m. Sophia Jane McLendon in Laurens County. Georgia, daughter of Thomas Davis and Mariah McLendon. Sophia Jane was a large lady, about 5'11" tall. She and Andrew had eight children and are buried in the Braddy Family Cemetery, Montgomery County, Georgia. According to family lore and facts on her death certificate, she died in a fire. She was left in the home alone in the house while Andrew and one of their sons, possibly Charlie) went to work in the field. At some point they looked up and saw the house engulfed in flames. Before they could get back, it was too late. Sophia was last seen sitting by the fireside in her rocker. This account was told to Bobby Graham, her gg grandson, by his great Aunt who was named for Sophia Jane. This was corroborated by her granddaughter, Nola Graham Sharpe, dau. of Leora. Children: of Andrew and Sophia: l. Leora Graham, b. 6 May 1868, d. 21 Apr 1954 2. Dennis Graham, b. abt 1869, m. Ella Smith 3. General Wesley Graham, b. abt 1870, m. Lenora Belle Smith 4. JR Pope, There were a lot of intermarriages between these families. Your question didn't provide much of a lead as to what you are looking for. Following is information that I have (might have more). Would appreciate any additional info or corrections you might have. His first wife we don’t know what her name was but the second was Elizabeth Pope b. 27 Nov 1818, she was the daughter of John Pope and Dicey Pope. These are the children from Alexanders first marriage. White Just a note the name Dicey or Dicy has been used over the generations, I still have a Graham cousin with this name. My Great Aunt Dicey Lavader (Graham) Daniels who she was named for passed away in may at the age of 92. Her Grandmother was Dicey Graham who married Christopher Columbus Smith. My Graham, Pope, Smith, Davis and McLendon families are so inter twined as they married back and forth , that it's become a real challenge to research. If you have more on the Pope family, I would appreciate if you could send me a copy, as I’ve not found where in North Carolina that they came from. If you want a copy of my Pope and Graham family info i would be glad to send you a copy, just send me your mailing address. You have a great day and may GOD bless. Bobby L. Henry Gay, according to the 1870 Laurens Census, was born about 1828, and according to the 1880 census, was born about 1830. According to his Confederate notations, he was born in 1841. That is a big difference. Cinderella was born about 1830 or 1841. Which census is the most nearly correct for her??? Per oral family history, John was a son of Theophilus Coleman of NC. In April of 200 a Jerry Floyd responded to a listing and said that the Theophilus estate mentions two minor sons, James and John. He also states that Jonathan and Josey Coleman witnessed his will. In May Barbara Nation posted this court info: 07-00-1816 No named executor in Theophilus Coleman will. Court granted letters of administration to Jonathan Coleman, with will annexed. $5000 bond with Nancy Coleman, Josey Coleman, Polly Coleman, Jeremiah Coleman and Jeremiah Coney as securities.
