    1. [[GALAUREN]] Re: Regional Coordinator
    2. Joe & Laura Schmidt
    3. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression. I am the Regional Coordinator for the East Central GAGenWeb. What that means is, I am the sounding board if you have any issues with the county webpage maintainer. I am also there to assist the web page coordinator if they have problems. I also have a team that is going to go around to each web page and make certain they are up to the USGenWeb and the GaGenWeb standards. They will check links and make certain they work and the content is still appropriate. If I find new sites I will suggest that they link to them. I have a lot of ties to this area of Georgia so I will jump in and help with queries where I can. The USGenWeb has no control over county mailing lists, so don't write me with complaints. Write [email protected] when you have problems, not the list. I intend to help increase traffic to our pages. I am there to help encourage you to share your data for the Web Pages. I will tell you of any great genealogy tools I find. Now for about me. I have been an active researcher since 1964. (Yes before Roots, and I am not affiliated with the LDS church) I was ten years old when I started. I teach genealogy as a community service. I help seniors learn to use their own computers. I have just returned to work after a hiatus for two years. During that time I devoted my life 14 hours a day to the community. I help folks get started in their own research. I am a county coordinator for 5 US counties. I maintain 31 message boards and am the list maintainer on about the same amount of mailing lists. Everything I do regarding genealogy and internet research is a free service. I am normally a retail manager but have now gone into medical management. First time to have a Monday-Friday 8 to 5 job in 30 years! I am the mother of 3 sons, one fantastic daughter-in-law and identical twin granddaughters. We are expecting another grandchild in July. The most important part of my life is my hubby of almost 28 years. Just so you know, we have elderly parents in very poor health that I will stop everything else to help. I also have PKD, but it is progressing slowly. Now you know all about me, thank you Toby Keith! Laura

    1. [[GALAUREN]] HILBUN
    2. George V Hilburn
    3. It has been awhile since we put our Laurens County connection to the list. Vaughan HILBUN (1806-1891) and Eliza Ann MCLEMORE (1812-1893) met in Emanuel County while Vaughan HILBUN was working on a stage line out of Milledgeville, Baldwin County. They married in Emanuel County in 1832 while having it registered in Montgomery County. They moved to Laurens County where they stayed until they died. Their children and spouses are as follows: 1. Andrew Jackson HILBUN (1833-1916), spouses were Mary Catherine CARTER (1837-1862), Lourania M ODOM (1835-1870), and Nancy M BRANTLEY (1834-1908) 2. Sarah Ann HILBUN (1835?-1913?) who married Lucian THIGPEN (1834?-????) 3. Mary HILBUN (1839-1874) who married Daniel THIGPEN (1821-????) 4. Ira H HILBUN (1843-1923) who married Arphelia E ODOM (1849-1884) 5. Matison V HILBUN (1849-1923?) who married Artrinity V ODOM (1855-????) 6. Eliza HILBUN (1849-1897) who married James W Maddox (1840?-1885?) I have seen Ada and Lugenia added, probably because of the 1880 census; but they were actually grandchildren being two of the children of Andrew Jackson HILBUN and Mary Catherine CARTER. If anyone can fill in the question marks with exact dates, let us know. George V Hilburn [email protected]

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Zc.2ADI/1375.1382.1.1 Message Board Post: I am interested in a HARDON, PERRY, McGAHEE and possibly a FOUNTAIN connection, especially in the Emanuel/Jefferson County, GA area. I have a Julia/Rachel DANIEL born about 1820 in Emanuel County, GA listed in the 1850 Jefferson County, GA census. We know she was the wife of Robert W. DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) of Bethany, Jefferson County, GA. However, the marriage records of Richmond County, GA say he married a Julia FLORENCE in 1841 and we know their first child, Julia R. DANIEL was born in 1843 and she was lsited as a Rachel DANIEL, age 26, born Emanuel County, GA in the 1850 census. The problem I have with the FLORENCE name is -- a FLORENCE family never lived in Emanuel County, GA in the time frame she was born. I also know from this same 1850 Jefferson County, Ga census that this Julia R. DANIEL was also born in Emanuel County, GA, age 7 in 1850. This tells me the marriage records of Richmond County, GA may be wrong. There are several families in Emanuel County, GA that could possibly match -- FLANDERS, FLOWERS, FOUNTAIN and FLOURNOY. I also know that Robert's brother, James L. DANIEL (1814-1857) married as his second wife, an Ann (1809-1861) and she says in her will that her sister was a Maria HARDON and her brother was a John PERRY. I do not know who the HARDON was but a John PERRY, age 61, born NC, was living with Ann DANIEL in Jefferson County, GA in 1860. I think this Ann was the daughter of Micajah McGAHEE and Ann SCOTT and this John PERRY was her brother-in-law who had married one of her sisters but I have not straightened all of this out, yet. Any information is appreciated.
