Does anyone on this list know anything about Hurricane Church in Lauren's County? My mother is 90 years old and she remembers attending this church. She thinks it was Methodist. It may have been in the Cedar Grove area as her family lived there when she was young. Her father was Payton Harlow TOWNS and he lived on property near his father George Belvin Towns. This land had previously belonged to the CLARK family. Would appreciate any information and I'm very willing to share. Sandy [email protected]

In going through the ED #63 district of Johnson Co. Ga, I came across the following families. Will you all please look them over and let me know if you can tell me anything about any of them. I posted to Laurens and Emanuel also, because most of these families and alot of others that I have found also appear in the Emanuel Co. census for the same year. Must have been a border line thing. When I return from work today and throughout the weekend, I will be going over this census page by page, district by district. If anyone would like for me to do a lookup, please email me with as much information of the person you are looking for as possible. Such as full name, approx. birthdate, brothers and sisters, mothers, fathers, and children that might appear on this census. Please limit your request to one family. This will be done on a first come first serve basis and I will not take any request after 2 o'clock today at which time I will start, and I don't want to backtrack to look. Please let me know. Cindy

Bush, Jr. though it is problematic). I am pursuing all possible connections. My known connection is to William Bush who settled in SE Alabama (later Barbour County) in early 1800's. He married Sarah Williams. William seems to be related to Moses Eason Bush, son of John C. Bush, but exact relationship is unclear. The Wm. Bush you mention is a cousin somehow, but again relationships are unclear and controversial. Would love to discuss this family. Paul M. Hendricks, MD

Following are a couple of items I have in file that may be of interest on this subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by Bridget Coffman <[email protected]> on Mon, 05 Jul 1999, in response to BUSH, posted by Joyce Trammell on Sun, 04 Jul 1999 Surname: Bush, Keen, Sutton, Scoggins, Jones, Pridgen, Moseley, Pope, Cooper Hi. I saw your note concerning Mary J. Jones, Sarah E. Jones and Henry T. Jones, the children of William F. & Mary J. Bush Jones. I have a lot of information on Mary J. Bush. Most of it comes from a Cooper-Pope Genealogy, and some other Bush information I've collected. There is too much to write it all here, but here is what I can quickly give you: "Mary Jane (Polly) Bush, daughter of William and Elizabeth Pope Bush, Family record of William F. Jones and family was copied from the family Bible about the year 1865. Certified Copy is on file with the N.S.D.A.R., Washington, DC. William F. Jones was born Feb. 8, 1807 Mary J. Bush was born May 8, 1818 William F. Jones and Mary J. Bush were married Aug. 10, 1837" The above was from the Cooper-Pope Genealogy They also list William F. and Mary J. Bush Jones's children and death dates. Mary J. Bush Jones had a brother William Bush, who was my ggggrandfather. They're parents were William Bush and Elizabeth Pope. Elizabeth Pope's parents were John Pope and Elizabeth Cooper. I have the Bush's, Pope's, and Coopers back much farther (they were very early immigrants to America), but if you can, please write me so we can talk about this further." Bridget ([email protected]) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- On application of Eli Bush, a minor, above the age of fourteen years, orphan of William Bush, dec'd, it is ordered that John Napier be, and is hereby appointed guardian of the person and property of the said Eli Bush minor & orphan as aforesaid, on his giving bond & security in the sum of one thousand dollars.
