Can anyone tell me who the parents of this William C. Brantley that is the father in this obit? Trudie Brantley Parr 02/15/02 WRIGHTSVILLE- Trudie Brantley Parr, 94, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. McArthur Brantley and Rev. John Bargeron will officiate. Ms. Parr died Wednesday. Born in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Elizabeth Stokes Brantley. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and a homemaker, farmer and a practical nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Charlie W. Parr, Sr. and a daughter, the late Nell Sanders. Survivors include to sons, Willie E. (Dorothy) Parr of Wrightsville, Charlie W. (Letha) Parr of Mableton; one sister, Tossie Moye of Wrightsville; sisters-in-law, Ruby Brantley and Evelyn Brantley both of Wrightsville and Ethel Hutcheson of Mableton; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ken Sanders, David Parr, Willie Parr, Steve Parr, Wade Parr, and Arnold Ivey. Stanley Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Does anyone have a map that shows the general area of Laurens County in 1820 that was called "Milton's Military District"? I have located my g-g-g Grandfather Elbert Pitman in that district plus a man named John Pitman who I believe was his father. I just don't know where this area of the county was situated. I am interested in the Garnto/Gornto/Gonto family via this connection: George W. Daniell (a son of Stephen Bedon Daniell and Ann Goodlet Howe of Brunswick, County, NC) was b. 5 April 1782 d. 20 Aug. 1845. He married a Mary Gonto (or Gornto) 25 June 1807. I think my Gonto clan came from (or around) Onslow County, NC. Not sure - but that's my thought up to this point. I have some data on the NC people but have not made my connection to them as yet. The only lineage proof I have is that George W. Daniell (who lived around Cadwell, GA) married Mary. Fran in SC

Garnto was married to Richard Florence May and they lived on a farm located on what is now the 319 Hwy between Dublin and Wrightsville, GA. Their farm was just inside the Laurens County line, but they attended the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a couple of miles up Hwy 319 in Johnson County, GA. They are buried in the church cemetery there and so are many of their children and relatives. William D. Garnto was the son of Benjamin Garnto and Jane Stokes. Benjamin died during the Civil War. Their children were: 1) Virginia May Garnto (My Great Aunt Ninnie). She married a Holland and had one son: Quillian. 2) Catherine Arrie Bell (My Great Aunt Bell) She never married. Stayed with her father and took care of him. Later stayed with various relatives. 3) Sarah Thomas Garnto (My grandmother - "Sallie") She married a Holland and had 5 children: Azilene, Annie Edison, and the twins: Willis and Ellis. 4) Rosa Garnto - Married a Harrison and had one daughter: Rosa Pearl. 5) William D. Garnto - had several boys - 6) Dollie Stella Garnto - married a Hammockand had three children: James, Agnes, and Iris. 7) Nina - married a Walker
