Carl would be my second cousin. My mother was Alma Bedingfield, who was a sister of Carl's grandfather, Walter Bedingfield, who was the husband of my "Aunt Julia". I am sorry but I only have one or two copies of the history that my mother wrote on the Bedinfields and would not want to part with them. I do plan to finishing up the entire book on Family Tree Maker's Internet site when I have finished with another project I am working on. Milo Smith, Jr.

    1. [[GALAUREN]] Searching
    2. Sarah, I did a quick search but haven't found anything about your grandma. Did find the death date of Lonnie. He died July 29, 1977 in Sarasota. Also, the death certificate stated that he was born in 1907 instead of 1908. I made those entries in my database. Here are a few URLs that you can search. May find something: 1 http://genforum.genealogy.com/ 2. ancestry.com 3. http://www.myfamily.com/ 4. Place a notice that you are searching for Lela Mae Rickerson on the Georgia Laurens Co. Roots web page. Here is that URL: [email protected] I would like to be informed of your results. Just curious but hope that you find something. Send emails to any people that you find in the above sites that are also researching Rickersons. They will help you if they can. Harry

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: DEAN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Zc.2ADI/77.1.1 Message Board Post: I'm not sure about the dates for the earlier children Micajah, (Elijah, and Sally). I have seen a birthdate of 1794, rather than 1784 for Elijah. Birthdates in the 1790s would fit in better with the later birthdates, but even so, that would make Richard 32 when the youngest of these were born. My original information came from a great-aunt, and I've since been trying to gather documentation. Recently we found the books that Allen Thomas, County Clerk for Laurens Co. GA, has compiled with courth records from Laurens. That material seems to indicate (1) that Richard's father was also a Richard, who died in 1814 in Laurens Co., (2) that Richard the younger had siblings named Charity, Farley and maybe Williamson, and (3) that the first Richard's wife was named Winnefred. We will need to look further at these court records and also look for corroboration elsewhere. I spent today in the Georgia Archives in Atlanta. I didn't find a lot on the Dean family, though I did find the papers that my great-aunt had sent there in 1978. I did find land transactions for Elijah Dean in Houston Co. GA in 1827 and 1831. According to the material from Aunt Mary, one of the Richards was a juror in Washington Co. GA in 1799, and in the same year had "headrights" to 300 acres of land, 200 for himself, 50 for a wife and 50 for a child. In 1805 he sold the headrights land to Jackson Cobb. In 1812 he bought 287 acres in Laurens Co, which he sold in 1818. In 1823, while living in Houston Co., he bought more land in Laurens Co., and in the 1832 Land Lottery he drew land in Cherokee Co. The listing for that drawing indicates he was a veteran of the Revolution, though not necessarily from GA. Once I have a chance to work with the material sent by Mr. Thomas, maybe I'll have a better "handle" on the two Richards! The little I have on Micajah Dean and Rhoda Hinson comes from a descendant of the two. Jo Beardsley, [email protected], gave me Rhoda's name and dates and one child's name: Mary Ann. She indicates that they moved to Florida. What do you have in the way of descendants for Micajah? As I get more, I'll post it to the Dean list and to this Laurens Co. website.

Could you tell me the source of your imformation? Wes Richard married twice? The spread in dates from the birth of his first child (1782) till the date of his last child (1806) of 22 years makes oune question if there was a death of the first wife, "or something". Do you know if there were any Indians inthe family? Has anyone found a Probate record, etc? Thank you. Elizabeth
