Surnames: Morris, Goff, Griffin, Roberts Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Zc.2ADI/1447 Message Board Post: My g-gf Ivey or Ivy MORRIS, born c. 1815 in NC, was married to Susan GOFF (born c. 1815) in 1837 in Laurens Co. GA. In 1850 they and first four children (James L., John R., Edward Andrew, and Sarah MORRIS, all born in GA) were in Barbour Co., Alabama. In their household was Sarah GOFF, age 22, b. 1828, in GA. Living two dwellings from Ivy and Susan GOFF MORRIS in 1850 in Barbour County, Ala. was Andrew J. GOFF, age 31 (Susan was 35). Andrew was a carpenter born in GA with a wife Martha, age 26, born in GA, and a daughter Martha A., age 2, born in AL. Also living in their household was Peggy GRIFFIN, age 31. Andrew J. GOFF married Martha A. GRIFFIN in Laurens Co. Ga. (probably about 1847?). I've not found Andrew GOFF and family after 1850 (yet). Susan and Andrew GOFF (and Sarah) seem to relate to a Henry or H. J. GOFF--found in Laurens Co. court records in 1849. No further info on Henry. In 1860, Ivy (a shoemaker) and Susan Goff MORRIS and family (and six children--add Ella and Jeptha R. born in Ala.) were in Pensacola, Florida, next door to Charles M. ROBERTS, born 1822 in NC, and wife Elizabeth, b. 1825 in Ala. There are MORRIS and ROBERTS children in the ROBERTS household, indicating Elizabeth might have been previously married to a MORRIS. I'm trying to gather any info on any connections to my brick wall--Ivy MORRIS. He died in 1887 in Butler Co. Alabama. Would like to find if he's connected to any other Morrises in Laurens Co. before 1850 (Moses, Jonathan, J.E., or John MORRIS). Thanks. Cheryll MORRIS Sumner
