I'm interested in the history of covered graves. We have on-line a photo of two in Taylor County http://www.rootsweb.com/~gataylor/taycem.htm Click on Covered Graves These are at Union Methodist - Hays Campground Cemetery. Mr. John Adams, editor of the Taylor Tracer, provided these photos and also gave the theory that due to the sandy soil in that part of Georgia, the covered graves were to prevent erosion of the graves themselves, as well as to designate family plots. I just wondered if anyone knew of other history and if they can be found in other counties. Virginia
