I know that John Hooker was my great, great grandfather on my maternal side. He had moved from Tyrrell Co.by the 1840 census to New Bern. The N.C.marriage bond of 1840 has Margaret wrongly recorded as "Jester". I have surmised that Hester Hoover (Hetty?) and Dempsey Justice of the 1809 Craven County Marriage Bond were her parents. Margaret and John had 3 sons,one of whom,Williiam Thomas Hooker,.was my greatgrandfather. Margaret died 20 Aug.1852. John married a second time to a Mary Dudley and oddly enough named THEIR son Dempsey Justice Hooker.
