    1. [GA-JONES] Adjutant General

    3. Concerning the question (posting quoted below), adjutant general is not a rank but, rather, the title of a position one occupies, in many cases a major or a lieutenant colonel. "Virginia, I have some more info on this couple married on Col. Thomas White's plantation near Round Oak. Thomas White's wife was Elizabeth Haynes Clark (b. Oct. 7, 1786), d/o Joseph Clark and Ann Hayes of Orange Co., VA and Elbert Co., GA. Ann Powell Clark (b. Nov. 2, 1784), sister to Elizabeth Haynes Clark White, and d/o Joseph and Ann Hayes Clark, married "Adjutant General" John C. Easter of Elbert Co., GA. Your marriage record gives his rank as "Maj", but the below mentioned book says "Adjutant General". All of this needs to be verified with actual records of course."
