Does anyone recognize these names?? they're not on our Jones County marriage lists. Issue 10 Oct.1810 married. 19 Sept at Thomas White's in Jones Co. Maj John C. Easter of Elberton to Miss Ann P. Clark, late of Orange co. VA. Virginia Crilley
Virginia, I'm not sure who Ann P. Clark is, but Thomas White is one of my ancestors. Thomas White married Elizabeth Haynes Clark, so Ann Clark could possibly be a sister to Elizabeth. I haven't researched the Clark family of Elbert Co. and Jones Co., so I can't answer the question completely. Thomas White was a Colonel, so Maj. Easter could have been under his command and a friend. Hope these clues help in your search. Robert C. Virginia, I have some more info on this couple married on Col. Thomas White's plantation near Round Oak. Thomas White's wife was Elizabeth Haynes Clark (b. Oct. 7, 1786), d/o Joseph Clark and Ann Hayes of Orange Co., VA and Elbert Co., GA. Ann Powell Clark (b. Nov. 2, 1784), sister to Elizabeth Haynes Clark White, and d/o Joseph and Ann Hayes Clark, married "Adjutant General" John C. Easter of Elbert Co., GA. Your marriage record gives his rank as "Maj", but the below mentioned book says "Adjutant General". All of this needs to be verified with actual records of course. The above information comes from the book "History of Elbert County Georgia 1790-1935" by John H. McIntosh. On page 398, there is an article of the Joseph Clark family with birth dates, but there are no sources given as to where the list of children or birth dates come from. Since all the children are given with complete birth dates, I'm guessing there was a bible record of this family floating around among heirs, or a church record existed when the book was written. You mentioned below that this record was found in "Issue 10, Oct. 1810". What type of source would that be? Perhaps a newspaper or record book? What County was the record found? Thanks, Robert C.
