    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Lee and his wife Mary, granddaughter of George Washington, first President of the United States. The steamer trunks were opened at the request of the Lee descendents. It has been more than 80 years since Mary Custis Lee passed. The trunks and their contents have been delivered to the Virginia Historical Society in Richmond for safekeeping. Mary Custis Lee's descendents have said that there are several thousand family records in the steamer trunks. It is anticipated that the cataloguing and preserving of these several thousands of documents will take two to three years, and will begin once the formal agreement between the Lee descendents and the Virginia Historical Society is signed. I am looking for the records of Henry Mitchell, Revolutionary Soldier, of Jones County, Georgia. Henry Mitchell was married to Sarah Maderias Mitchell. In about 1813, Henry and Sarah Mitchell were among a small group of people that helped found New Hope/Caney Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Warren Anderson Mitchell, C.S.A., was the great grandson of Henry Mitchell, Revolutionary Solider, of Jones County, Georgia, and I am sure that he was a bible carrying soldier. As you know, Warren Anderson Mitchell, C.S.A., was from Jones County, Georgia, and was serving on duty in the recruiting office of Camp Watts, near Notasulga, Alabama, when he contracted pneumonia and died on November 20, 1862. He was taken back to his old home in Clinton, Georgia, and buried. Any church records for Warren Anderson Mitchell? As you know Henry Mitchell (RS) was a lottery winner. He is listed in "The History of Jones County" as being a fortunate drawer in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery. This information is also available via the internet from the Georgia State Department of Archives and History, under "Revolutionary Soldiers" and "The Authentic List of Revolutionary Soldiers-Georgia Land Lottery". Do you need any land information? Do you see any Henry Mitchell (RS) letters? Very appreciatively, Terri Anne Hastings Average e-mail is o.k.
