    3. I understood the question about recognizing anyone on the 1820 Census to be a retorical one, but thanks Lisa for submitting this information. I had searched this census before and missed a name, John Tounsend. I know it's important to search alternate spellings but somehow I missed him, looking for Townsend. I'm pretty sure this is my man, and that he was still alive in Jones County in 1820! Thanks again. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! 3. The GAGenWeb Archives now has an easier way for you to post your information....the forms can be found here: http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ The material that you post there automatically comes through to the GAJONES list and also comes already formatted to my mail box so that I can quickly post it on-line. I'm always looking for ways to get more data on-line for researchers in Jones County --- so appreciate all the help you can give. The more data we have on the Internet the greater your chances of connecting to someone who is also researching for the same family lines. Virginia Crilley

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Jordan, Chapman Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xc.2ADI/1203.1.1 Message Board Post: Ann, I sent away this AM to Jones County, GA for a copy of their marriage certificate, and hopefully it may say who the father and mother was of each party. If the 1880 census shows children living with the parents Williamson and Harriett, what are the names and ages? I believe that I have the names, but just to check. Am more interested in the parents of same, so that I can carry my research further up the family tree. At this point I am stopped, with no names to look for. When I stopped in the Pike County library in Troy, AL the other day, the lady brought me a book that had the info from "Papers of the Pike County Historical Society" and on Williamson Jordan (1889) it said "Williamson Jordan was born in Wilkes County, Georgia, February 14, 1805. His father (the guy I am searching for) soon after moved to Jones County (Georgia) where young Jordan grew to manhood and married Miss Harriett Chapman June 3, 1830 who is still living. In 1838 Mr. Jordan moved to Muscogee County, Georgia where he remained until 1860. (I found him in the 1850 Census in Muscogee County, GA and verified the folks that this was the person I was interested in). That year he came to Pike (Alabama) and settled near Fish Trap but the next year moved near Henderson where he now lives. He is the father of twelve children, five of whom are now living. Two of his sons gave their lives to the Southern cause, one at Atlanta, Georgia, and the other at Winchester, Virginia. Thirty-six grandchildren and ten great grand-children are his descendants. And it goes on about his general health and belief's. etc. Since he married in 1830, born in 1805, in Jones County is their such a thing as a 1810 or 1820 census that my list his father as head of household, with a son that would show his birth in 1805? Your thoughts? Norman K. Huppert Sr huppert@snowhill.com

    3. Lisa You asked if we knew any of these people. Certainly William Wilder is my 4thgreat grandfather. Luke Roberts married a daughter of William Wilder's (from Memory). I believe Ward and Willis Wilder, who lived in Jones County at this time are related to William. They were witnesses to his will but I haven't proven how they are connected at this time. There were also Goodwin's and William's son Etheldred married Susan Goodwin and his son Green married Rebecca Goodin, which may have also been Goodwin. William left a will in Jones County. Thanks, please write if you connect to any of these families. He was at work in the field with his little brother, when he saw the dog over the fence, go got over the fence and attempted to pick the dog up and put over the fence when he was bitten. Feb. 28, 1816 Died at his residence in Jones Company on the 7th inst., CAPT. THOMAS RAINES in his 54th year. In him we have lost another hero on '76. 3. My ancestor, John Evans Tudor, married Mary Ann Crowell in Jones County, GA, on 9 July 1812. John Cook, Justice of the Peace, married the couple. The only record of this marriage is from Mary's statement in her application, as John's widow, for a bounty land grant. Their first two children were b. in GA: Robertson S. Tudor, b. 8 Sep 1813, and George Washington Tudor, b. abt 1815. By 1821, the family was in Livingston Co., KY. Does anyone have a Tudor connected to their family in Jones Co.? I'm trying also to find a connection to John Evans and/or his family. Judy, have you seen a Tudor connection anywhere in your Evans line?
