Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xc.2ADI/240.797.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi, I am a descendent of Adaline Hataway born in 1825 of Jones Co., GA who married Jonathon Watts on January 7, 1849 in Jones Co., GA. I believe she was the daughter of John Hataway and the brother of John Hataway born in 1828. She was married to J. Watts when the 1850 census was taken, so she does not appear on that record with the family; however, the 1840 census record shows that John Hataway had a daughter that would be the age of Adaline. Do you know who was John(br. about 1799) Hataway's father? A David Hataway is listed on the 1820, 1830, and 1840 Jones Co. census who I think might have been John's father. In the History of Jones Co, David was listed as the executor of a William's will. I'm wondering if this is David's son or father. In several surrounding counties, several Hataways are listed as being born in Pitt Co. NC, so I wonder if David H. migrated into Jones Co. about 1820 from Pitt Co., NC. If we can find a record that connects our family to them, there are ! records of the Hataways originally Hathaways back to Plymouth, MA. Can you provide any information that may help me make this connection? I would love to share information with you. Brenda
I am looking for info on the parents of Abraham B. Harris. He was born abt. 1830 in Georgia and died 5 July 1890 in Jones County, Georgia. He married Hannah M. Winters 02 October 1850 in Jones County, Georgia. I found him living with Abraham Brown on the 1850 Jones County, Georgia Census. He is listed as an heir of Abraham Brown and also as an executor of the will. Could Abraham Brown have been Abraham B. Harris' grandfather? Abraham and Hannah had the following children: 1. William Nathaniel Harris b. 8 Jul 1851 d. 27 Apr 1941 2. Mary L. Harris b. 29 Aug 1852 d. 24 Dec 1928 3. Peyton Myers Harris, Sr. b. Nov 1853 4. Julia A. Harris b. abt. 1858 5. Franklin W. Harris b. Sep 1859 d. 25 Aug 1924 6. John M. Harris b. abt. May 1860 7. Andrew Leon Harris, Sr. b. 8 Mar 1865 d. 5 May 1944 8. Jefferson Harris b. abt. 1867 9. Susie Anna Harris b. abt. 1872 d. 1908 Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Brenda
My great grandfather was John W. Burnette. He came to America as an 18 year old stowaway in 1870 on a ship from Germany. Any help in my research would be appreciated. 1.. John W. married Emily, an American, in 1870, the same year or so that he immigrated. Any knowledge of arranged marriages with Germans? 2.. By the time he was 27, John W. and Emily were living in Jones County. It was hundreds of miles inland and there were no other immigrants or citizens with the surname of Burnette in the area according to the census. Why there? Were Germans recruited to work on farms in Georgia after the Civil War? John W. Burnette Born November 16, 1852 and died February 28, 1916. 1880 Census - Jones County, Georgia, USA John W. Burnette Name spelled Burnett by census taker. Hello, I see you have the surname Heath you are researching. Do you have anything on a Nancy Heath? I have a Lovick Pierce Jordan, who was my GGGGrandfather, and he was married twice, and it is believed, that his first wife was a Nancy Heath, and they were in Jones Co. Ga. about 1826. Is there anyone on the list that uses Family Tree Maker as the program for their family tree? And knows whether it is possible to make a GEDCOM of an individual family name and not the entire database? I would like to send copies of branches relating to specific individuals without sending my entire database of more than 6,000 names. This is a routine procedure with some popular programs. Ken Smith

Well at least one line. A descendant of his married into my ancestors family. I don't know anything about the John you posted, but I do know that Walter Holland had a son John Wilburn Braxton who died in the civil war in Camp Chase. John also had a son named John Wilburn Braxton. He married into my White Family that was from Georgia. They went to Cottondale, FL. Its quite possibly they were named after the John you seek. If you would like to know anything else, please post it here, I will be changing email addresses in a few days and if you write me direct after Tuesday, I may not get it. I just don't know when you will see this message. Good Luck

Iam looking for any information on William Chambers (b. Jones County,GA in 1832) and Laurie/Laura Pippins Chambers (also b. in GA 1831). According to what records that I have found on William Chambers was in Jasper county,MS in the 1860 census records being 28 years old with his wife Laura Chambers,27(b. GA) and Winney Chambers, 8(b.GA,my GG grandmother who married William Stephen Wedgeworth here in MS) and Kate Chambers,14 born in NC(William's sister ??) William Chambers family and William Stephen Wedgeworth parent's household lived near each other and both service in the 37th MS Inf. together. William Chamber died in service in 1862 and William Stephen Wedgeworth came home and married William Chambers daughter, Winney Catherine Chambers in 1869. According to William Chamber's war record it states that he was born in Jones County, G! A and died at the age of 30. Winney Catherine Chambers Wedgeworth DC states both her parents and birthplace as GA. I can find no record what happend to Laura/Laurie Pippins Chambers or Kate Chambers after the Civil War was over in MS records. Love to know what happen to both ladies and more information on Willam Chamber prior to them coming to Mississippi. Could it be possible that someone there might know of the Chambers/Pippins family linage???
