He is the son of Elizabeth (maiden name is Kendall, Kindell...) and Colonel Avant. Like yourself, I don't have much information. However, my cousin in Louisiana has been doing a great deal of research and knows far more than I. I will share this info with her and...well...you never know. I will tell you there has been alot of race mixing in this family history. There a many Avants in the state of Alabama, Louisiana and the Carolinas...some of which, we know we are related. I hope I can be of help...the brick wall hurts. :-)

My Henry Avant was born 1802 in North Carolina and married Rhoda Malissa Chapman. They had children Rhoda Melissa (born 5-2-1858), Louisa Jane, Almetra Matilda, Sara Frances, Henry Jr., William, Joseph, Mary Ann, Alvis and Almanda. This is all I know about my Henry and cant seem to match him with anyone, no parents or siblings. I am descendant from Rhoda Melissa of 1858 and have this generation documented from Henry Sr. If this is your line and need any other informtion, be glad to give you all I got on the many branches. Does this Henry match with your Henry. Sure hope so as this has been a BRICK WALL for many years. Again, thanks for responding. Don Bankston
