William Blount (father) died in Jones Co., Ga. in 1825. Other children born to this couple were: Benjamin Blount b. 1778 John Blount b. 1782 (my line) Mary Blount b. 1782 Marshall Blount b. 1784 Britton Blount b. 1788 Richard Blount b. Dec. 17, 1790 d. Oct 24, 1841 Jones Co. Elizabeth Blount b. 1796 Stephen Blount b. 1802 Warren Co., Ga. All of the children were born in Johnston Co., N.C. except the last child, Stephen. He was born in Warren Co., Ga. Your William Augustus Blount died in Chambers Co., Al. in 1849 (according to my records). Lucy (mother) moved back to Harris Co., Ga. with at least one of her daughters. That is where she died in 1848. Marshall Blount died in Monroe Co., Ga. (married Jane Baldwin April 20, 1830 in Jones Co.) John Blount (my line) died in Jasper Co., Ga. in 1825. I have 2 more generations back on this line and tons of information on John's descendants. There is also a book that has a lot of information on one of the sons (not sure which one at this minute) I'll have to look through my "paper" file. C. - d. 1825 in Jones Co., Ga. Lucy moved from Jones Co. to Harris Co., Ga. where she died in 1848. I descend from their son, John Blount. I don't know off hand if this was the land she drew in the lottery or if she sold it and then moved to Harris Co. I'll find my paper file and check on this. Lucy was born Sept. 4, 1758 and died in 1848. Her maiden name was "Marshall". Does anybody know where John Blount might be buried in Jones County????

Here's a listing by the day of the drawing for those living in Jones County and drew in 1827 Land Lottery... This list shows the GMD (Militia district) they were living in at the time in Jones county...and the LL and Land District in the ORIGINAL County. In some cases I've put in ( ) where this land ended up....in one of the other created counties. There are so many drawers from Jones County in comparison to some of the other less populated counties, i.e. Upson and Crawford and Houston. If you connect with any of these people, please let me know. It would be interesting to find out if they sold their claim or actually moved to the land. Be aware that the sections on the two Samuel Barrons living in Hancock County, GA, are controversial! They challenge the long-held tradition that the Samuel Barron (m. Joanna Braswell) who later moved to JONES COUNTY, GA, was the son of William and Prudence Davis Barron. This view seems to have begun with John D. Garrard's August 1892 letter in which he proposed, without conclusive evidence, that Samuel Barron of JONES COUNTY must have been this couple’s son. Researchers have accepted this conclusion ever since. New data indicates that Garrard was likely wrong! Documentation is provided, including a transcription of a *SECOND* letter written by Garrard to J. D. Barron in September 1892. Sections of the article should be especially helpful to 1) descendants of William and Prudence (Davis) Barron of Wilkes County, GA; 2) descendants of the Samuel Barron (m. Joanna Braswell) who moved to JONES COUNTY, GA; 3) descendants of the Samuel Barron (m. His apparent descendants later lived in Carroll County, GA. Thanks to several fine Barron researchers (credited in the article) whose correspondence in Spring 2002 led to the writing of this article. The contributions of the second Garrard letter and the Georgia tax digests for Greene, Hancock, and JONES Counties were invaluable. My great-grandfather, JOHN WILLIAM SUMMERS, parents were JOHN FRANCIS SUMMERS b 4 Mar 1854, Jones Co., Ga, d 9 May 1939 Wilkinson, Co., Ga. and MARTHA NEWTON b around 1859 possibly Jones Co, d unknown. They married 27 November 1879 in Jones Co, Ga. Her parents were ISAAC NEWTON b around 1821 and SARAH JONES b around 1819. They were married 8 December 1844 in Jones Co, Ga. Nothing more is known as far as I know about who their parent were or when and where they died. Possibly we tie together somewhere. Philip Herrington is in the Masters of Historic Preservation program at UGA, and as an independent project (and also possibly as part of a thesis) is researching pre-1861 plantations in 27 Georgia counties, including Jones. He's asked if we know anything about the MOUGHON HOUSE. We've posted this earlier...but I hoped that someone might have joined the list since then. The last owner listed for the house by Williams is Robert Clark of Macon (son of John W. Clark of Jones Co.). The house burned Jun. 7, 1946 The Moughon house is a little-known example of one of the famous "Milledgeville Federal" houses, a house type which appeared primarily in Baldwin and Jones counties. Jones County has wonderful, though largely unappreciated, architectural resources, so he's hoping to find information not only on the Moughon house but on the old Benjamin Barron houses.
