Ada Eiland signed and acknowledged the will of Henry Mitchell. I have put the will of Henry Mitchell on the internet under Jones County, Georgia, genealogy. Also, I have a photocopy of the will of Henry Mitchell. Sarah, his wife, had passed away prior to 1819. Do take a look at Henry Mitchell's will. Henry Mitchell also was a "fortunate drawer" in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery. He won land in Carroll County, Georgia. This information is also available on the internet, through the Georgia Dept. of Archives and History, under "Revolutionary Soldiers" in the "Authentic List of Revolutionary Soldiers, Georgia Land Lottery of 1827. Mrs. Ada Eiland was good people. I am looking for information about Mrs. Eiland. Do you know any information? Please do say it if you know about Henry Mitchell and Mrs. Eiland. My Great, Great grandfather is believed to be Marlin D. Hataway. We believe that Marlin is one of many sons of John Hataway, from Jones County, Georgia. Marlin Hataway was born Feb 06, 1829 and died on Feb 06, 1896. He is buried at the New Hope (Caney Creek) Primitive Babtist Church Cemetary, Jones County, Georgia. Marlin also served in the Civil War as a private in Company E, 32 Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry. Marlin was badly wounded by falling timbers while building breastworks at Bentonville Battlefield, located outside Goldsboro, North Carolina. Marlin was married to Martha L. Watts, also from Jones county. Marlin had an older brother named John A. Hataway, born in 1828, Jones County. We know that John A. Hataway was a brother because it was recorded on Martha L./Marlin D. Hataway's Application for War Pention/Records. John A. Hataway was a witness to Marlin's civil War activities. We were also awar! e that John A. Hataway also served with Company A, 32 Goergia Infantry and prior to active service was a custodian/farmer at Jerrold's Plantation, Jones County. Also listed to have served in Company A, 32 regiment was George W. Hataway. We only recently discoved from a descendant of John A's family of the connection to ours. John A. Hataway married Caroline Watts, also believed to be the sister of Martha L. Watts (Marlin D. Hataway's wife). Marlin D. Hataway had numerous children, our family line comes from him to John Richard Hattaway then to Jack Hattaway, then to our father, Clayton E. Hattaway. I hope this helps and please contact me if you have anymore information, Thanks

    1. [GA-JONES] Antietam anniversary and photographic information
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Mitchell, Maderis, Flournoy, Driver, Christian, Womack, and Duffy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xc.2ADI/1149 Message Board Post: The 140th anniversary of Antietam is being celebrated in this area. Over 12,000 re-enactors are expected during September 13, 14, and 15 for The Cornfield, Bloody Lane, AP Hill's Assault, and Fox's Gap. This is near Hagerstown, Md. The toll free number is 1-888-248-4597. Also, website information is: www.antietamreenactment.org There is a new interest in the metropolitan area of Washington, D.C., in the American Civil War. Recently, August 16th-18th, in West Virginia, the second annual program called "The Image of War-Antietam: A Detailed Seminar on Battlefield Photography" was held. The seminar was sponsored by the National Center for Civil War Photography. The telephone number given for information was (336) 674-3359. As you may know, Camp Point Lookout (Maryland) located in Southern Maryland, in St. Mary's County, was strategically located across from the Appomattox in Virginia. It was a large permanent camp for prisoners of war. It housed about 5,000 people. There is a new resurrgence of Civil War interest and a new book has recently been published about Camp Point Lookout in Maryland. Also, Mark Boatner's "Civil War Dictionary" includes information about Camp Point Lookout, Maryland, under "Prisoner of War Camps". The reason that I am including information about Camp Point Lookout, Maryland, is that I know that there was also a Camp Lookout in Georgia, and you might find this information helpful in looking for your homeboys. Do you see any photographs of my great, great grandfather, Warren Anderson Mitchell, great grandson of Henry Mitchell, Revolutionary Solider, of Jones County? Please help me find his photograph. Warren Anderson Mitchell, from Jones County, Georgia, was serving at Camp Watts, near Notasulga, Alabama, on duty in the recruiting office, when he contracted pneumonia and died on November 20, 1862. He was brought home to Clinton, Georgia, and buried. Any information about Warren's brothers, Ichabod Mitchell and Thomas Giles Mitchell, would also be appreciated. Photographs that I do have are one photograph of Lucinda Christian Mitchell, the widowed spouse of Warren Anderson Mitchell. Lucinda was from Jones County, Georgia. The photograph of her was taken at the Blackshear's studio in Macon, Georgia. I also have one photograph of Warren and Lucinda's only child, Ida Warren Mitchell Duffy. This photograph is of the young married couple, Ida Warren Mitchell Duffy and Thomas William Duffy. I also have two photographs of Thomas William Duffy, one taken when he was between 18-20 years old. I have one photograph of Thomas William Duffy taken when he was older. This photograph was taken at Kuhn's studio. Do contact me if you have any photographs of the Civil War. Also of interest to me are photographs of Lucinda Christian Mitchell's brothers: Hardy Christian and William H. Christian. Both of Lucinda's brothers were serving from a unit raised in Jones County, Company F, 45th Georgia Volunteer Infantry. First Sgt. Hardy Christian, C.S.A., was serving and was surrendered at Appomattox. Private William H. Christian, C.S.A., died at Guiney, Virginia (also called Guinea Station, Virginia, and now called Guinea, Virginia). William H. Christian is buried at Fort Hill cemetery, Jones County, Georgia. Do see that the Civil War records for First Sgt. Hardy Christian, C.S.A., and Private William H. Christian, C.S.A., were discovered in May of 1956 in Macon, upon removal of a confederate monument. Lucinda Christian Mitchell was a survivor of General Sherman's March to the Sea, and if you see war records for my great, great grandfather, Warren Anderson Mitchell, please do see me. I have been able to locate Lucinda's Confederate Widow's Pension Claim, Number 3655, dated August 24, 1891. However, today I am still trying to locate the Civil War records of Warren Anderson Mitchell, C.S.A. Lucinda's widow's pension claim did not have any regimental or company information. We do know that he was serving in the recruiting office at Camp Watts, near Notasulga, Alabama. Do say it if you know any information. Sincerely thanking you, Terri Anne Hastings Average e-mail is o.k.: purchaseorders@yahoo.com
