Thanks. I already have this. I went to the courthouse in Louisville several years ago and got copies of both of these wills. I was hoping that you might have come across something else: perhaps something that would reveal the surnames of the wives: Elizabeth & Nancy. John McGowan is the one that is the biggest mystery. I have a problem with his son John. Don't know if he is actually the William listed in the 2nd will or perhaps just not listed in the will. I would assume that he died in 12/1828 when the will was probated. The John McGowan that I am descended from who was the son of Nancy McGowan has conflicting birthdates: 1806 on a toombstone listing and going back from census records 1832. If anyone else has any additional information on David or John McGowan or either of their wives, I would appreciate hearing from them. Thanks again for your trouble.
