I have found a Peter McGowan in the census records, but he doesn't appear to be married or have any family. Doesn't live near my John & David. He could be an Uncle or cousin. Peter is listed as being born in Ireland on the census records. All other McGowans are listed as being born in GA on census records. I believe that I read somewhere in my research that Peter was a scool teacher also. Perhaps he became a merchant also. If he is connected, I can't find how or prove it. However, that is not to say that he isn't.
