    2. Hi, John and Dawn Since I am tracing the Pior family (Pryor, Prior) in Jefferson Co. and Burke Co., Ancestry.Com has the following marriages listed: Wylanthia Pior m William Way, Sept. 23, 1823 in Jefferson Co., Narcissa Pior m Noah Smith Oct. 23, 1821 in Jefferson Co., and Nancy Pior m James Wright Sept. 6, 1821 in Jefferson Co. There was a marriage contract made which showed Allen S.B. Pior as Trustee when Sarah Smith married Travis G Williams and it was witnessed by a Noah Smith. I believe that Noah was a relative of Allen's wife, Caroline (last name unknown--possibly Richie). Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Martha Pior

    3. Martha, That information sounds right, based upon what I know about this SMITH bunch. I will correct Noah's first marriage to a PRIOR. What I did not tell you is there are PRIORS in Madison, Morgan County, GA that are close to my DANIEL-RICHTER bunch in Madison. Are any of these folks, yours? They are not collateral, just close but close enough to be family of an extended variety. To show you how this all fits in, my grandmother was Alice E. DANIEL (1854-1924) who married John C. RICHTER, Sr. (1848-1907) of Madison, GA in 1872 in Madison. The RICHTERS were one of the First Families of Madison and a prominent family of that city. My grandparents were married in Madison by Dr. David WILLS, President of Oglethorpe University, then located in Milledgeville. Alice was the d/o Robert Williams DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) of Bethany, Jefferson County, GA, now Wadley, and his 4th wife, Mary Jane RENEAU (1830-1912), d/o Rev. Russell RENEAU and Elizabeth STOCKTON, then of Oxford, Newton County, GA. Rev. RENEAU was a Presiding Elder in the GA and AR Conferences of the ME Church. Robert W. DANIEL married Mary Jane RENEAU in 1852 in Jefferson County, GA and the marriage was probably performed by Rev. RENEAU. Robert DANIEL went by the name, R. W. DANIEL in most instances. He was born in Green County, NC and Mary Jane in Jefferson County, TN. I am sure this PRIOR family in Madison was the same PRIOR family tied to the WALTONS, another RICHTER collateral. The WALTONS were from Greeneville County, VA. David Wyche WALTON b. 1790, the son of David WALTON and Rebecca WYCHE. This whole WALTON bunch goes back to the Hon. Isaac Rowe WALTON of Brunswick County, VA. And this bunch bounces in two ways. You might want to throw the FITZPATRICKS, WYCHES, WALTONS, REIDS all together in all of this in Madison. There is a connection, and I do not know what it is, between the LAMARS and BIRDS of Milledgeville and my DANIEL bunch. We know the BRYANS are probably part of my LANE bunch Dobbs, later Green, and I think my Capt. Isham LANE (ABT 1730-1801) RS-NC of Green County, NC was a brother of Levin LANE of Jones County, NC. His daughter, Penelope (1773-1846), was the mother of my GGF, R. W. DANIEL. In 1860, Noah SMITH, Jr. was one of the richest men in Jefferson County, GA. All of this bunch had money to burn. RWD was worth close to 20K and all of his siblings were of about the same wealth. I also think RWD's daughter, Julia R. DANIEL born about 1842, married one of Noah's boys. At least, I feel this was Noah SMITH, Jr. He and his wife, Wylanty WAY, Julia R. DANIEL and her husband, an L. C. SMITH, and RWD lived side-by-side in 1860. I think this whole bunch moved from what was once Dobbs (then Green) County, NC to Burke County, GA and then, later, to Jefferson County, GA. I also think they married close and kept it close even in later years but their marriages may have been more of class in later years than family. My guess is the main links in this overall family begin in IOW or Surry, move to Edgecombe and then Dobbs and then to Burke and Jefferson County, GA. At least, this is the pattern I am seeing.....
