    1. Note on the Jefferson County Website

    3. Good Morning, One note on the Jefferson County Website. Some folks on my commercial websites attempt to enter them via of "the back door" by browsing the directory structure of the website and opening the file they want to view. Normally, I do not allow FTP access to my websites, so this is not usually a problem but hackers being what I are, I take pains to avoid this situation. However, on the JC website Rootsweb allows FTP capability so I am sure someone will sooner or later attempt to do this. This was also why one person was thrown to the Eastman Gunshow website, inadvertently, last night - I had forgotten to change this re-direct directive to reference the URL of the new Jefferson County Genweb website. I removed this re-direct directive at that time but I have added this feature back to the website this morning. All of this should be transparent to you. This re-direct is done for one reason -- so any information displayed on this website is displayed properly. If for some reason a visitor attempts to enter the Jefferson County website via of a frame from another website or they attempt to directly access one of the website's HTML files, they should be re-directed back into the main entry file for this website, what we call the "Welcome Page." The Golden Key located on the left hand side of the website's top border will allow you to easily add this website to your "Favorites." So, feel free to use it. That's what it is there for. <grin> If you have any problems with this website, let me know. John R. Clarke Thomasville, GA
