    2. John, I meant to mention this in my last e-mail.....I noticed the ministers in the Parker line that you found....could have been linked because my William R. Parker gave the land where Mt. Moriah Campground, Woodland Baptist, etc. sits today. A plaque is on the original chimney telling about this....it was 1827. Jean Parker Chavis

    3. I am looking for Thomas PENNINGTON who was born about 1803 in Jefferson County, he married Margarette B. THOMPSON who was born Abt. 1804 in Jefferson County. I have found that her father was Shadwick THOMPSON who was born in Jefferson County (I think) and she married Thomas on January 30, 1823 in Jefferson County. The children of Thomas and Margarette were Augustus b. 1828 married Catherine A. BLOODWORTH December 12, 1850 in Wilkinson County David b. 1829 married Nancy SHEPHERD (I think) on October 30, 1856 in Wilkinson County Thomas b. 1830 married Sarah E. UNDERWOOD on August 02, 1852 in Wilkinson County Julia b. 1832 married William W. BERRYHILL on June 19, 1851 in Jefferson County James b. 1836 I have no record of him being married. There might be a chance that a Thomas PENNINGTON who was in Burke County might be Thomas father, but there is no records that I can find yet. If anyone has any information about any of these families let me know please. Michelle Pennington Nutterville

    2. John R. Clarke
    3. Dawn, Some of this HANNAH bunch is interesting, too, especially that Shadrack ALLEN. I have it that Shadrack married Sarah PUGH (1760-1799) but she must have been a first wife and he married the HANNAH girl, second. Sarah was the d/o Hugh PUGH, Jr. and Elizabeth BRYAN of Pitt County, NC. Hugh was the son of Hugh PUGH, Sr, and Penelope CANNON, d/o Henry CANNON and Elizabeth of Craven County, NC. Elizabeth was the d/o Lewis BRYAN II and UNK of Craven County, NC and g/d of Col. Lewis BRYAN I and Elizabeth HUNTER. So, this, too, smells of this big bunch of eastern NC families that practiced what we might think of today as incest. <grin> This PUGH bunch is close, too, since Louisa PUGH, Sarah's sister, married Simon BURNEY, Jr. I also forgot to include the WOOTENS, COUNCILS, PUGHS and BURNEYS in this group and I also forgot the WHITFIELDS and BRYANS other close family, the SMITHS..... I do not carry any HADDEN or HANNAHS connected to this PUGH family and they must have picked them up, later. I also do not know who Shadrack ALLENS parents were. Do you know? If I were to guess, I would look around the Robert ALLEN III family of Richmond County, GA or somewhere back in NC for Shadrack..... John R. 3. RE: Benjamin MAY. I carry a Benjamin Tyson MAY b. 1768, son of Benjamin MAY and Mary Clara Sherrod TYSON of Pitt County, NC. He married Penelope Coffield GRIMES, d/o Dempsy GRIMES, Esq. and Penelope COFFIELD of Pitt County, NC. I do not know what happened to this Benjamin T. MAY but he would be probably close to my DANIEL family. I do know that Dempsy's brother, William GRIMES (1796-1797) married an Ann BRYAN, d/o Joseph and Sarah MAULE, and they were of Dare County, NC, according to my information. Ann's brother, Edward BRYAN, married Penelope BLACKSHEAR, d/o James BLACKSHEAR and Catherine FRANCK of Jones County, NC. This smells to be part of that big bunch of eastern NC collateral families, the TYSONS, MAYS, BRYANS, WHITFIELDS, HARDYS, STAFFORDS, FORTS, FOSTERS, PIERCES, LANIERS, ROGERS, WARRENS, LANES, ALLENS, GARDNERS, ANDREWS, DANIELS and others and this bunch is about as close as any big bunch of families can ever be. I am also not too sure the CASON, CANNONS, ADAMS, MOORES and MOYES did not find a way to attach themselves to this large family, at different junctures. A lot of this bunch was IOW and Surry, earlier. John R. 3. Dawn and others: On additional thought -- McCLENDONS and PERRYS. In 1817 in Morgan County, GA an Elizabeth DANIEL married a John PERRY. I still do not know who her parents were, however they seem to have moved to Balfour County, AL. Into this bunch of PERRYS, a William Augustus McCLENDON married Lake Erie PERRY, son of Elizabeth DANIEL and John PERRY of Balfour County, AL. They had a son named, Joseph Parker McCLENDON born 1857 who married a Julia Ann LOTT and they moved to Marion County, MS. I have to feel my DANIEL bunch, this PERRY bunch and maybe even the PARKERS and McCLENDONS are somehow connected, especially with that Morgan County, GA return address for John and Elizabeth. John R. 3. Dawn, You know how we beat the TINLEYS to death for links back into my DANIEL clan in Burke. Do you think these TINSLEYS in Sumter County, GA are part of this TINLEY clan or some different clan? The only name I see that is familiar is the John PERRY name but we know that John PERRY (ABT 1799-1863), brother of Ann PERRY (1809-1861) who married James Lane DANIEL (1814-1857) as his second wife BEF 1845, died in 1863 in Emanuel County, GA. We think that 1799 John PERRY married Martha PARTIN as his first wife and from your note to me, he married Nancy QUINNEY as his second wife. So, who was this John PERRY? I still have not been able to connect them back to a family in NC nor have I been able to connect the MARSHALLS back to a family, probably also in NC. Do you have any thoughts on this PERRY and MARSHALL family? John R. 3. I have found a Peter McGowan in the census records, but he doesn't appear to be married or have any family. Doesn't live near my John & David. He could be an Uncle or cousin. Peter is listed as being born in Ireland on the census records. All other McGowans are listed as being born in GA on census records. I believe that I read somewhere in my research that Peter was a scool teacher also. Perhaps he became a merchant also. If he is connected, I can't find how or prove it. However, that is not to say that he isn't.
