These are the marriage dates I have....sounds pretty close to your bunch to me..... william R. Parker 4/16/1790 - Edgecomb County, N. C. to Bathsheba Matthews About1780 - Culpepper County, Virginai. She died about 1835 and before 1840...they were married in Jefferson County March 02, 1809.....daughter of Aquilla and I have that line back to the 1700's. I don't have anything for sure further back on William but am told he was probably the son of Hardy Parker and Susana Dowzer of Emanuel County, then Jefferson Co. William and Bathsheba had the following children; Joseph G., James A. (married Sara Gross - 1831 then Indiana 1850 or before....he died 1856 -Jeff Co,,Aquilla Weslley (my great grandfather) he married Mary M.Evans on May 20, 1846...Aquilla (June 15, 1820-June 20, 1880 in Burke County....Mary was born in Burke Co. also....but they lived at first in Jeff. Co.......Thomas D. Parker...9/26/1821 - 12/28,1893......Martha Parker married Phillip J. Evans..(could have Mary's brother) ...Daisha Elizabeth married Thomas Moseley, Ann Mary Parker married Edmund N. Stevens, Francis L. Parker (?) and Sara Parker married Sterling G. Jordan She died before 1856 and Sterling never remarried. He was a justice of the peace or something like that in Jeffl Col. William R. remarried Sept. 24, 1846 to Nancy Sikes of Jeff. Co. She was older and had been married but I don't know to whom. Yhe marriages I have are the following: William to Bathsheba -1809 James A. to Sarah Gross - 1831 then to Indiana (Diana) about 1851 James A. died about 1856 - one year before his father Wiliam R. Joseph T. to Caroline E. S. Tarver...1861 Thomas D. to Sarah Evans 1844 A.W. to Mary M. Evans 1846 William R. Parker to Nancy Sikes...1846 Francis L. to Elilzbeth H.Bargainer 1851 Jean.....
I am researching a John S. Berryhill that supposedly married Sarah McGane in Jefferson County, GA on 4 Nov 1818. There are no McGanes in the 1820 Jefferson County, GA census. Could there be an error and she was actually a McGowan? Lynn Farrer mlFarrer@swbell.net
I am researching my 4th Great Grandfather, Jesse Farrow, born abt 1753 probably in South Carolina and according to Revolutionary War Pension records he died 21 Mar 1821 in Burke County GA. His wife Frances was born between 1770 & 1775 and possibly died between 1830 & 1840 in Burke County GA. A distant cousin has posted to the internet that Jesse Farrow married Frances Tarver. When I contacted her for the source of the information, she never responded. Their children were: Fanny Farrow b. abt 1794, James H. Farrow/Farrar/Farrer b. abt 1798 d. abt 1853 in Jefferson County, GA, Sheldon Farrow b. abt 1796, and Daniel M. Farrow b abt 1806. I assume all the children were born in Burke County GA. He shows up in the 1790 substitute Burke County Census index, recieved a land grant in Burke County in 24 May 1793, and drew 2 blanks in the 1805 Burke County, land lottery and was in the 1820 Burke County Census. I don't know when or where they married. Does this ring any bells with Farrer/Farrow or Tarver researchers? Lynn Farrer mlFarrer@swbell.net -----Original Message----- From: John R. RE: THOMAS D(ANIEL?) PARKER, b. September 26, 1821; d. December 28, 1893, Jefferson Co., GA.; m. MARTHA SARAH EVANS, January 18, 1844; b. Abt. 1828, Richmond Co., GA.. When you mention the EVANS Family, then you are all over my DANIEL bunch. Samuel Clark EVANS family of Wadley was all over my family. My friend, Smith Callaway BANKS of Statesboro married a grand daughter of SC EVANS. SC EVANS, Sr. (1852-1912) was the son of Marcus Aurelius EVANS and Emeline F. PALMER of Jefferson County, GA. Marcus was the son of Robert H. EVANS and Elizabeth Ann MURPHEY of Hephzibah, Richmond Co, GA. Robert was the son, according to some, of Col. Daniel Jones EVANS and Mary Polly JONES, also of Hephzibah, Richmond Co, GA. I would not be against a PARKER being all over this bunch since they were so close to the DANIELS and if so, then I would be that PARKER pointed right back into Greene, Wayne or Dobbs County, NC, especially since an Isaac PARKER married Bethany LANE, sister of Penelope Lane DANIEL. This whole bunch floated in and out of Brothersville ME Church in Hephzibah, Richmond Co, GA. The CLARK name, no relation to me, is out of NJ -- Charles Edward CLARK III (1782-1852) and he was married to a CARSWELL and a MURPHEY. I do not know who your Martha EVANS parents were but I will bet she is from this EVANS family. There was also a very prominent EVANS family in Greene County, NC -- Richard EVANS, as I remember. I also think the Nathan EVANS family of Marion County, SC may well be connected to this overall bunch, too...... John R. The story goes that America Melvenia PARKER who was probably born ABT 1835 married Louis L. RENEAU (1834-1863) and she was the daughter of a Rev. James PARKER and Martha. Rev. PARKER was of the GA Conference, ME Church. This may have occurred in the Montgomery, AL area but I do not know for sure. I do know his older sister, Mary Jane, married Robert W. DANIEL in Jefferson County, GA. The RENEAUS then lived in Oxford, Newton County, GA but I have, as yet, been unable to figure out this Newton-Jefferson County, GA connection. The only Newton-Jefferson County, GA connection that is know is via of Oxford College. Rev. RENEAU was a PE in the GA Conference and lived with all of the big wig Methodists in Oxford and I am sure his kids went to school, there - probably free, too. I also know that some of the CARSWELL kids also went to school in Oxford and this may be the connection since they were all about the same age. These CARSWELLS were loosely connected to my DANIEL folks and there may have been others from this area who also went to school there, too. Regardless, there has to be a Newton-Jefferson connection because they are abut 100 miles or so apart. John R. Trying to connect Lawson and Mary "Polly" Williams. They had a daughter Pauline Jane or Jane Pauline. What is the daughter's correct name? J. P. or P. J married William J. Hadden. What does the J. in William J. Hadden stand for? Thanks, Margie
Is anyone searching for the Smith family. I'm trying to find Cordelia Smith that married James Well in 1893. Thanks Margie
These are other names in Jefferson County that I would like to find information on it is a brother and sister; James Well and sister Alice Wells. Thanks Margie
After reading back over the will I don't see where Francis was a male....I thought I had read that or saw a marriage license....if you think this is william and Bathsheba's daughter.....could be. Was your Frances ....Frances L.? Jean
William R. & Bathsheba Matthews Parker's line: Joseph G. Parker, James A. Parker married Sara Gross, 1831 then Indiana Gross 1851, Aquilla Wesley married Mary M. Evans, Thomas D., Martha maried Phillip J. Evans, Dialsha Elizabeth married Thomas Mosley, Ann Mary married Edmund N. Steven., Francis L. (male I believe), Sara marroed Sterling G. Jordan.....so the names you mentioned are children to these names I believe. Jean
This is the information I have on James, son of James W. and Bathsheba Matthews Parker: James W. married Sara Gross in 1831 ( IJefferson County marriage licenses. James married Indiana (Dianna) This could have been an older sister or she could have been Sara Indiana, however, I think she, Indiana was the second wife, so sopposedly so...she had 3 children and her married name was Gross....don't know what her maiden name was however. On 1850 census they are list thusly: James A. Parker (Jeff. Co) 40, Indiana 45 (Warren Co.), Bathsheba 15....this was the name of James's mother, Emily 12, /William 10, Solomon 9, James 8, Issabella 6, and John Gross 14, Augustus Gross 10 and Antontte 10 Gross. I have listed (no proof) that James and Indiana were married in 1851. James's will was dated 1856-1857 and Indiana's 1860. I think James died one year before his father William R. Parker. Jean
Anyone have any info on Garland Tarver of Jefferson County who married Ketura "Kitsey" Brown? Wes Wilson
Thank you Dawn! Ronnie
