    3. There was a book written about Queensboro titled "Queensborough, The Irish Town and Its Citizens" by Loris D. Cofer. It is copyrighted in May, 1977. I got a copy from the Jefferson County Library in Louisville, GA. You could prabably contact them and get on. The one that I have is a paperback and as I recall, it only cost $10.00. It has a lot of great information. Page 56 Does list a John Martin Sr., & JR. It says that Sr. came on the ship Hopewell and received 400 acres 6/27/1769. Also a will in 1810 mentioning his wife Elizabeth. Hope this helps. 3. Dawn, I have to believe that any GREEN tied to my DANIEL bunch, as yours are more than likely related to the family of Col. Joseph GREEN (ABT 1744-1803) and Sarah WHITFIELD of Wayne and Dobbs County, NC. Green's family was originally from Johnston County, NC. Sarah was the d/o William WHITFIELD, Jr. (1715-1795) and Rachel BRYAN of Rockford, Lenoir County, North Carolina. Rachel was the d/o Col. Needham BRYAN and Ann RAMBEAU of Snowfield Plantation, Bertie County, North Carolina. Do you remember the Needham DANIEL of Richmond County, GA. He has to be a descendant of this WHITFIELD and BRYAN bunch. Jeptha of Richmond, probably, too. Joseph was the son of a James GREEN (1716-1790) and Mary GRAY of Johnston County, NC. The reason I say that Joseph had to be in all of this is because these folks did not go out an marry just anybody, they either married family of someone whose family was closely collateral with their family. These are James and Mary's Children: Thomas Green James Green Farnefold Green Joseph Green b: 24 Oct 1744 in North Carolina John R. 3. I agree John. I tell ya...I can't believe how many Greens there were around the Jefferson/Burke/Emanuel/Burke area back then. There was even a Daniel Green in Jefferson in early 1800's went to Lee County by 1830. He had a son, William Henry Green, who was administrator of his estate. He was born abt 1780, just as my Daniel Green. He died with in abt. 2 or 3 years as my Daniel Green. So you have 2 Daniel Greens from around Jefferson Co. who were born and died abt the same time...and just to add a little more PUNCH...Both had sons named William Henry Green who administrated the estates! 1. Re: [GAJEFFER] Berryhill
    2. John R. Clarke
    3. Jim, What is right about it is probably a better question. <grin> Some is good, like that for Samuel III and Celia JORDAN stuff but even this has so many holes in it that you can drive a truck through it. I have not looked at the stuff Lotus has for these TARVER folks in several years but a lot that I have seen makes no sense. I feel that Thomas TARVER b. ABT 1740 of Greene County, NC is Samuel TARVER III's (1739-1802) brother but I have no confirmation of it. Regardless, there is a strong connection between Thomas TARVER and Samuel TARVER because Robert DANIEL and Penelope LANE lived right by Thomas Tarver and Noah SMITH in Greene County, NC in 1800. I also feel this Noah is the same Noah SMITH who lived within just a few houses of Robert DANIEL in Burke in 1820. I also know that Samuel Bennett TARVER, Samuel and Celia's boy. lived also very close to Robert C. DANIEL in 1820 in Burke. In 1830, Samuel Bennett TARVER and his wife, Charlotte Arnold TARVER, moved to Washington County, GA -- right on the border with Jefferson a few miles west of present day Bartow, GA. Into his place in the 1830 census of Burke moved Mark E. TARVER, who I think was Samuel's youngest boy born 1786. Mark's son, William Allen TARVER. Sr. born ABT 1805, married Lucretia DANIEL, one of Robert and Penelope's kids. Jimmy TARVER of Wadley, GA is a great-grandson of this "Allen" TARVER and Lucretia DANIEL (1807-1849). Lucretia died in either Bell County, TX or Russell County, AL. By 1850, Judge Andrew Ethelred TARVER (1817-1900), s/o Samuel Bennett and Charlotte Arnold TARVER of Washington County, moved to Jefferson County, GA, after marrying a Julia Ann DANIEL. I do not know who her father was. Guess who Judge TARVER lived right next to in the period 1850-1860? Robert W. DANIEL, Esq., my GGF, and RWD was also one of Robert and Penelope's kids. After the CW, Judge TARVER and the DONOVANS owned about everything worth owning in the Wadley area of Jefferson County, GA. Wadley had been named, Bethany, before the latter years of the 19th Century but the DONOVANS renamed it to Wadley, in honor of the President of the GA Railroad Company. The DONOVANS were major suppliers to the GA Railroad Company. . The DONOVANS were also collateral with the DANIELS. Tim DONOVAN married Nancy Collins DANIEL, d/o James Lane DANIEL (1814-1857) and his first wife, Mary MURPHEY. James was a brother of Robert W. and was another son of Robert and Penelope. In the 1850-1860 time frame, they all lived side by side in Bethany, now Wadley. I am also not against the idea that Bethany was not originally named for Bethany LANE, one of Penelope's sisters. We also know there were five JORDAN kids, all siblings, who play a real big role in this whole bunch, as well as help to identify other collaterals. They were the kids of George JORDAN III and Patience WARREN of Northampton County, NC. Celia JORDAN (1739-1819) married Samuel TARVER, III, Elizabeth JORDAN (ABT 1750-ABT 1794) married John TARVER (a cousin of Samuel), Hannah JORDAN (ABT 1740-ABT 1770) married Thomas VINSON, Jr, Nancy JORDAN (ABT 1759-ABT 1866) married Francis Richard FLANDERS, Josiah JORDAN (ABT 1755-1821) married Judith HILL, d/o Abraham HILL and Judith HINTON, Benjamin JORDAN (ABT 1757-ABT 1787) married Elizabeth HARVEY and I do not know who Roland JORDAN married. We also know that John TARVER (1754-1810) moved to Wilkes County, GA but we think some of his kids moved to Troup, Twiggs, Burke and Jefferson County, GA. One of his grandkids was General Hartwell Harrison TARVER (1784-1840) of Troup County, GA, who has been said to have been the richest man in GA when he died in 1840. The WIMBERLYS, BRYANS and WHITFIELDS are also thicker than thieves. I am also pretty sure that Penelope LANE's mother was a BRYAN but I do not know which one. I also think her father, Capt. Isham LANE (ABt 1730-1801) of Greene County, NC was a brother of Levin LANE (ABT 1730-ABT 1790) of Jones County, NC. This seems to be confirmed by Levin's daughter, Penelope LANE, subsequent marriage to both Col. William Martin BUSH of Jones County, NC and Needham WHITFIELD. We also see this same BUSH family collateral with the WINBERLYS, WHITFIELDS and others in the Twiggs County, GA. area. This whole bunch has links back to Dobbs and Craven County, NC with a few links into Wayne and Greene County, NC as well as Northampton, Edgecombe, Duplin and Pitt. The problem is these folks were cousins of some variety, and this includes both the TARVERS and DANIELS, as well as anybody named, WHITFIELD, BRYAN or SMITH, with a few exceptions. You can also throw the WARRENS and ALLENS into this equation, too. John R. 2. Regarding the 10/22/1852 will of DANIEL T SMITH - there is some confusion. The title of the typewritten will record is in the name of Daniel T Smith. The body of the will and subsequent statements are in the name of DAVID T SMITH. Also, handwritten minutes from the Court of Ordinary, Book D, 1850-1861, page 57, identify him as DAVID. I had assumed that wills written in 1852 were handwritten. Could there be a transcription error in the Jefferson County Book of Wills? Just wondering... 3. Dawn, Now, I can tell you who Rev. Elnathan DAVIS (1735-1821) was born in Baltimore Co., MD and died in Pickens County, SC. He married Mary COLLINS born in Baltimore Co., MD and died in Pendleton, Anderson County, SC. Notice the MD connections, again..... Elnathan was the father of Hannah Elizabeth DAVIS b. 1760 who married William DANIELL, Jr (1767-1831) of Emanuel County, GA. He was also the father of Benjamin DAVIS (1760-1816) who married Elizabeth DANIELL, William, Jr.'s sister, as the story goes. They also had a sister, Ruth DAVIS who married James MURPHREE of Bertie County, NC, later Habersham County, GA. I will also tell you the "spin" around this DANIELL family is something to behold, especially that coming out of Bogart, Oconee County, GA, the home of William DANIELL, Sr. (1743-1840). I do not trust anything they say, even less so than I trust published TARVER information from Burke and Jefferson County... I do think that William DANIELL, Jr. of Emanuel County, GA and his son, John Raven DANIELL were descendants of John DANIELL and Sarah RAVEN of Brunswick County, NC but who William's father was, I have not a clue and only report he was William DANIELL, Jr., because that is what the DANIELL family of Bogart carries for this William. However, they also say he died ABT 1800 which we know is not true since William was the Clerk and Sheriff in Emanuel at a much later point in time. They also say he was a Baptist preacher but I take what they say about their whole family with a grain of salt. John R. The ancestors were a John SMITH and Lucy JONES and the CLEMENTS, or at least part of them, were John CLEMENTS and a Mary Anne LATANE. No dates were listed. John R. 3. Please tell me if rootsweb still has an active mailing list for McDuffie, Glascock and Warren Counties. I have posted messages on these mailing list and get no response. Also, I have tried to contact the list admin or list mothers and get no replys from them. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Margie
