    3. Margie, There is a name in the 1861 will of Ann Perry DANIEL (1809-1861) of Jefferson County, GA that I have never been able to figure out. I do not know who her parents were but I know who her brother was - a John PERRY (1799-1863) who died in Emanuel County, GA. Her brother John PERRY married Martha PARTIN (ABT 1797-ABT 1850) of Crawford County, GA and then Nancy QUINNEY (b. ABT 1830), d/o Hinson QUINNEY and Mahala Abigail MARSHALL of Jefferson County, GA. Ann was a quite wealthy woman, as was most of this bunch. In her 1861 will, drafted and executed by my GGF, Robert W. DANIEL, she mentions her sister, Maria HARDON so somewhere in this bunch of PERRYS is a Maria, Mary, etc. who married a HARDON. HARRISON is also a name mentioned in some abstracts or her will but it could well have been HADDEN. For some reason this will is probated in Richmond County, GA, they tell me. I have never seen the original. Regardless, Ann Perry DANIEL and her husband, James L. DANIEL (1814-1857) are buried in Bethany Cemetery, Wadley, Jefferson County, GA with the DONOVAN family who were the family of James's daughter, Nancy Collins DANIEL, by his first wife, Mary MURPHEY. I have never been able to figure out why my GGF, Robert W. DANIEL (1809-1865) and his brother, James Lane DANIEL, moved to Jefferson County, GA. There must be a reason because all of their family links are in Burke. Recent information indicates to me that this DANIEL family may well have been CASON descendants and were related to Hillary CASON who died in Jefferson County, GA but this is the only early connection I can draw to this area. We know from Pitt County, NC deeds that John CASON, Sr. RS-NC (ABT 1728-1812) had grandchildren named Robert and William DANIEL. John was the older brother of Hillary CASON (1737-1809) who married we think Sarah ORMAND. All of these families were of Beaufort and Pitt County, NC and centered up around Pactolus, Pitt County, NC which is right on the border with Beaufort. My only problem with assigning my DANIEL bunch to this family is I do not have any LANE family links to this family and I feel there should be some. We know the wife of Robert C. DANIEL was a Penelope LANE (1773-1846) and she was a daughter of Capt. Isham LANE and I think, Lucretia GRAY, of Greene County, NC. I also feel Capt. Abraham Sheppard LANE of Emanuel County, GA was probably related to my LANE bunch but that is just a guess. The reason I think this is possible is because his uncle, Co;. Abraham SHEPPARD, Jr. is living very near my DANIEL bunch in Greene County, NC in the 1790 time frame. Nothing conclusive but knowing that John CASON, Sr. sold land to his grandson, William DANIEL, of Emanuel County, GA makes me believe this is quite possible. Your or others thoughts...... John R. 2. My 2x great grandparents were Eligah and Elizabeth Foyil Hayslip from Jefferson County. I have seen some research that suggests that Eligah was the son of Zorzbabel and Winnie Green Hayslip, but I have not been able to prove it. I thought that Eligah Hayslip was the son of John and Polly Bass Hayslip also of Jefferson County. I beleive that John was the son of Zorobabel Hayslip. I really haven't been able to prove anything. Some of Eligah's children bare the same names as some of the other Hayslip's; Benjamin H. and William H. My great grandfather was Zean H. Hayslip, who married Elmina McNeely. I would like to knoiw how you are related. Thanks, Wes Wilson

    3. Hi, Tell me about those GREENS. I know that GREEN family from right across the border in Emanuel County, GA has to be from the same location my DANIEL bunch was from -- Dobbs and Greene County, NC but I cannot get a feel for them. I know the Hinchley WARREN, Sr. (1727-1803) and Rachel ANDERSON family of Northampton County, NC and later Montgomery County, GA has something to do with these GREENS because one of their girls married a GREEN. However, the GREEN family I have always looked at, closely, is that of Col. Joseph GREEN (1744-1803) and Sarah WHITFIELD of Wayne County, NC because a lot of their family was all over what I feel are DANIEL collaterals. Regardless, my GGF. Robert W. DANIEL (1809-1865) of Bethany, Jefferson County, GA married Rachel Rebecca GREEN (1824-1851) BEF 1845 and she was the mother of at least two of his children -- Mary Green DANIEL born 1848 and James R. DANIEL born 1849/1850. Rachel died ABT 1851 and Robert married my GGM, Mary Jane RENEAU (1830-1912), the following year (1852) in Jefferson County. John R. 3. Hi, TAYLOR -- I am looking for TAYLOR, too. My GGA, Amelia DANIEL (1795-1860) married William P. TAYLOR (1797-1851) and they moved from Burke to near Riddleville, Washington County, GA but I am sure some of their bunch probably ended up back in Jefferson at some time or another. I also think these TAYLORS migrated down from Greene County, NC with the DANIELS, WISES and maybe some of the CASONS. We know that John CASON, Sr. (1730-1816), formerly of Pitt County, NC, died in Burke County, Ga in 1816 and his will lists a grandson named William DANIEL, who may well be the William DANIEL born 1797 who was my GGU. These DANIEL kids were the children of Robert C. DANIEL (ABT 1765-AFT 1830) and Penelope LANE (1773-1846) of Burke County, GA. Penelope was the d/o Capt. Isham LANE (ABT 1730-1801) of Dobbs County, NC. I think his wife was Lucretia GRAY, d/o Capt. John GRAY, Sr. (1690-1756) and Ann BRYAN of Beaufort County, NC I think this whole bunch, including a Etheldred SMITH and/or a Noah SMITH, as well as some of the TARVERS, moved from Greene County, NC to Burke County, GA, probably in concert. We know that Robert DANIEL and Penelope moved to Burke in 1812, so they probably all moved to GA in about this same time frame. BTW, my GGF was Robert W. DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) of Bethany, Jefferson County, GA, one of Robert and Penelope's youngest sons. John R. 3. Betty, Most have not been aware of it but there have been some real problems in the GA GENWEB Project over the past several years. I was not even aware of the scope and magnitude of these problems them until about six months ago, after being trashed on another county mailing list by someone who was "then" the Metro Atlanta Coordinator for the GA GENWEB Project. All of this was after I asked why these folks were copyrighting our family information. Information, that we had freely submitted to them for their use on these websites. That genealogical information is "our information," not theirs and these excesses in copyright infringement were just the tip of the iceberg. Needless to say, I went after them all the way to the top of the US GENWEB Project and even to the managment at Rootsweb. Those of you that know me, know this old journalist (and Marine) can be pretty convincing. However, there were lots of folks in on this, not just me, but we now have a whole new crew, for the most part, in the GA GENWEB Project. This new crew in the GA GENWEB Project contains many dedicated folks, some from the former administration and some, new, like me. When you go to to the GA GENWEB Project's home page, you will already notice the differences. If you have a certain GA county for which you would like to be the County Coordinator, drop by the GA GENWEB home page (http://www.rootsweb.com/~gagenweb/) and put your name in the hat. I would suggest you have some knowledge of website design and know how to use FrontPage because you will need both of these to set up and manage a county site. John R.
