Can anyone recommend any books on the history of Jefferson County and/or the surrounding counties? I'm particularly interested in Queensborough, but I would like to know about life in general in this area during the 1700s and 1800s. Much obliged! Christine Hadden

Looking for info on Richard Helton who married Binka Campbell in Washington County, Ga. on Jan. 1, 1830. Richard died before 1840. Binka is listed in the Warren County, Ga. 1840 census: Helton, Pinkey 1 M 5-<10 1 M 10-<15 1 F 5-<10 1 F 30-<40 She is next listed in Jefferson County in 1850: Binky Helton 46-born Washington County, Ga. John 22-born Washington County, Ga. Mary A. 17-born Washington County, Ga. Thomas E. 15-born Washington County, Ga. No proof but I think Burrell Campbell may be Binka's father. Any of this sound familiar to anyone? Dawn

Betty, I do not know who William P. TAYLOR (1787-1851) of Burke and later, near Riddleville, Washington County, GA descends from. All I know is he married Amelia DANIEL (1795-1860), my great-grand aunt ABT 1815. There are an awful lot of breaks in the DOB's of their children, so I do not know how accurate any of this information is. The one later TAYLOR family which connects to my overall family is the family of Ella TAYLOR (ABT 1863-1896) of Greensboro, Hale County, AL who married Dr. Frank Pugh CULVER, DD (1863-1949) of Lawrenceville, Henry County, AL. Ella was his first wife and after his death he married Mary Lee WHITE (1874-1944) of Meridian, Lauderdale County, MS, my 1C1R. Recent research also makes me want to look at the Robert TAYLOR (d. 1847) and Sarah PEHLAM family of Granville County, NC for possible links into this TAYLOR family of Washington County, GA, especially since the results of my cousin's DNA test indicated we are in some way related to Chesley DANIEL of Granville County, NC. My information from descendants of this TAYLOR family says William TAYLOR and Amelia DANIEL had the following children: i. James R. TAYLOR (1818-1864) married Olivia BRYANT and had children named, Elizabeth W., Annie, Frances, Elizabeth and Nancy born in the 1848-1859 time frame. ii. William Levin TAYLOR (1826-1884) who married Nancy Maria CLARK, d/o Charles Edward CLARK III and Sarah Collins MURPHEY of Blythe, Richmond County, GA. They had children named Sarah Amelia, Charles William, Julia Edna, James Elbert, Arizona Virginia, Sidney Johnston, Annabelle and Levin and I do not know how accurate any of this information is. iii. Rebecca Lewis TAYLOR born ABT 1834. <<< 1850 Washington County, GA census, 91St Division, Page 245, household 619 TAYLOR, William P. head, male, age 63, born NC, Planter, $4,000 TAYLOR, Emelia, wife, female, age 55, born NC TAYLOR, Leavin, son, age 22, born GA TAYLOR, Rebecca Lewis, daughter, female, age 16. born GA >>> John R. Good Morning, The DNA results for my DANIEL family of Burke, Jefferson and Morgan County, GA are in and I am a descendant of Capt. William DANIEL (1625-ABT 1694) and Jocobed SMITH of Middlesex County, VA. This means, we probably have a more than a few families, especially those tied to my DANIEL line in Burke, Jefferson and Morgan County, GA, that may well have ties back to this same area. The MARSHALLS and TAYLORS of Burke and Jefferson County, GA come to mind. I am now pretty sure the Joseph MARSHALL of Jefferson County, GA came from Granville County, NC, the TAYLORS of Burke and later Washington County, GA probably also. This DNA also cements the relationship I have known that existed between the Gen. Beverly Daniel EVANS family of Sandersville, Washington County, GA and my DANIEL bunch, since he too, was a Middlesex DANIEL descendant. Floyd DANIEL of Madison, GA was also correct when he told me several years ago that he was not related to my father because to my best information his DANIEL line is not. Let's put all of this in its proper perspective, these results were a surprise to me and while I have always considered it as being possible, especially since I have the names Chesley and Robert all through my DANIEL, family -- most other known links lead in completely different directions. John you amaze me with the information you have on families. I have been working off and on on HADDEN and PUCKETT line for about 30 years and have collected very little. Both my mother (Hadden line) and my father (Puckett line) neither talked about their families. My grandparents on both sides died before I was born. My mother destroyed some of the information I had collected years ago and said let sleeping dogs lie. Margie ----- Original Message ----- From: "John R. Margie, I do have some information on Richard BULLOCH II (ABT 1680-1766) and Annie HENLEY of New Hanover County, VA, later Granville County, NC. I only track one of their sons, Leonard Henley BULLOCH who married Frances HAWKINS of Granville, later Warren County, NC. Leonard was a Proprietor of the Transylvania Company which engaged Daniel Boone to establish the first settlement in Kentucky. I did not have the BULLOCHS tied to the WATLEYS at this juncture and in Granville. I do not know who Frances's family was but this HAWKINS boy was probably related to her because I think I remember the MACONS were tied to some of Audrey's bunch. I may have to take a look at this bunch a little closer because of that POTTER name. This is the second instance that I have seen around this Granville bunch and my great-grandmother was a POTTER. <<< Note: Biographical Directory of the American Congress, 1774-1949 Biographies H page 1286 HAWKINS, Micajah Thomas (nephew of Benjamin Hawkins and Nathaniel Macon), a Representative from North Carolina; born near Warrenton, Warren County, N.C., May 20, 1790; attended the Warrenton (N.C.) Academy and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; engaged in agricultural pursuits; member of the State house of commons in 1819 and 1820; served in the State senate 1823-1827; served in the State militia, attaining the rank of major general; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-second Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Robert Potter; reelected to the Twenty-third and to the three succeeding Congresses and served from December 15, 1831, to March 3, 1841; declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1840; resumed agricultural pursuits; again elected to the State senate in 1846; member of the council of state 1854 and 1855; died near Warrenton, Warren County, N.C., December 22, 1858; interment in the family burying ground near Warrenton, NC. >>> John R. Margie, I have known Audrey for years and years and years. <grin> She mainly concentrates on the Middlesex DANIEL bunch that lived in Granville, later. A lot of her bunch went to Perry County, AL, as I remember. I do have some of her WHATLEYS, though. Col. Abner WHATLEY (1791-1844) of Edgefield County, SC married an Eliza Ruth WILSON and they were the parents of Virginia C. WHATLEY (1833-1911) who married John Miller WRIGHT (1832-1910) of Beech Island, SC. Abner also married a LAMAR, d/o an A. W. LAMAR, before Eliza. Beech Island is right across the Savannah River from Augusta, GA. Col. WHATLEY was the son of Edmund WHATLEY and Phyllis MARCUS of Granville, later, Edgefield County, SC. Their daughter, Junie Whatley WRIGHT (1866-1900) my 1C1R, Col. William Richter MUSTIN, Esq. (1857-1901) of Madison, Morgan County, GA. They say "Willie" died of a broken heart after Junie's death. Willie was the State Prosecutor for the Morgan County Judicial Circuit and a law partner of the BILLUPS in Madison. He and Junie are buried in Madison within just a few steps of my grandparents, John and Alice Daniel RICHTER. John R.
