    3. Does anyone know who the parents of Ester Allen were? She married Thomas Hadden in 1820 in Warren County, Ga. She was born 1805 in Jefferson County and died 1885. Buried at Reedy Creek Church. Children Elizabeth Vining, Benjamin Hadden, Sarah Ann Williams, Samuel Hadden, Elda Matilda Williams, Mary, Thomas H Hadden, Nancy, Milly McGahee, Margaret Allen, Brina Hadden. Maybe Benjamin Allen? He and his son are buried there. Perhaps your 2G grandfather was named after him.

    3. John, Thanks for this information on the Eastern NC Daniels family. I've been trying for a while to place Alex Daniels with one of the families near Benjamin Whitaker. It will help to know that the DAniels are all of the Thomas Daniel line from VA. I have not been able to find anything about Alex and Nancy's children. Hi, John and Dawn Since I am tracing the Pior family (Pryor, Prior) in Jefferson Co. and Burke Co., Ancestry.Com has the following marriages listed: Wylanthia Pior m William Way, Sept. 23, 1823 in Jefferson Co., Narcissa Pior m Noah Smith Oct. 23, 1821 in Jefferson Co., and Nancy Pior m James Wright Sept. 6, 1821 in Jefferson Co. There was a marriage contract made which showed Allen S.B. Pior as Trustee when Sarah Smith married Travis G Williams and it was witnessed by a Noah Smith. I believe that Noah was a relative of Allen's wife, Caroline (last name unknown--possibly Richie). Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Martha Pior

Aaron DANIEL, Sr. (ABT 1833-1800) and Betsy WHITFIELD, whose son Benjamin W. (ABt 1764-1816) moved to Washington County, GA, later cut into Laurens. We know the JENKINS were tied to the SMITHS and if they were out of a WHITFIELD line, that is two major parts of the WHITFIELD, SMITH and BRYAN families.... We do not have a will of Capt. Aaron DANIEL RS-SC or his wife, Betsy WHITFIELD and we have really searched for one. You may need DNA information to tie this line into this family but that will not help you because almost every DANIEL or DANIELS in the JC neck of the woods were related -- uncles, brothers, sisters, cousins and distant cousins and all of these were out of the Thomas DANIEL (1631-1709) and Elizabeth GRIFFIN family of IOW County, VA.     3. If Noah Smith was related to the Rev. Jordan Smith of Jefferson/Washington County, it was far more distant relationship than brother. The Rev. Jordan's brothers were Brittain, Sion, Simon, Samuel, and Bennett. Noah was not a descendant of any of these men either as far as I can tell. Linda

ABT 1831 Narcissa TARVER, d/o Mark Etheldred TARVER and Eve ARDEN of Burke County, GA. (2nd) m ABT 1846.Wylanty WAY (ABT 1820-AFT 1856). ii. Rev. Jordan SMITH (ABT 1777-1835) + Mary GAINER (1779-1847) d/o William GAINER RS and Martha WILLIAMS of Davisboro, Washington County, GA. iii. Ann SMITH (ABT 1770-1845) + Joseph MARSHALL, Sr. (ABT 1765-AFT 1820) This is my hypothesis on who Ann MARSHALL was. She may have even been a Nancy or Nancy Ann because Ann is often a shortened version of Nancy and vice versa. I have nothing to support this other than the fact that Rev. Jordan SMITH was living right next to Joseph MARSHALL, Sr. in Jefferson County, GA in 1820 however it makes sense. BTW. Mark and Eve was the parents of William Allen TARVER (B. ABT 1805) who married Lucretia DANIEL (1807-1849), sister of Robert W. and James Lane DANIEL. Back in Greene County, NC in 1800, Noah SMITH was living right next to their parents, Robert C. DANIEL (ABT 1765-AFT 1830) and Penelope LANE (1773-1846). My DANIEL cousin, Jimmy TARVER of Wadley, Jefferson County, GA, is a descendant of William Allen TARVER, Sr. and Lucretia DANIEL -- a great grandson. His father was Dr. TARVER. Also remember, Noah SMITH, Jr. was living right next to Robert W. DANIEL in the 83rd MD of Jefferson County, GA (Bethany) in 1860. I also think the L. C. SMITH who married RWD's daughter, Julia R. DANIEL born 1842/1843, in 1859 was a son of this Noah SMITH, Jr. and probably his first wife, Narcissa TARVER, William Allen TARVER's sister. So, this bunch was close, real close.......     3. Dawn, That Joseph MARSHALL, Jr. their son. He was married to Lucy RAIFORD and Sarah GIBSON. He died on 8 Mar 1852 in Jefferson County, GA Joseph, Jr. may have been married three times. First to UNK, second to Lucy RAIFORD and third to Sarah GIBSON and the UNK was the mother of Mahala who married Hinson QUINNEY. We know his mother died in 1845 and his father AFT 1820. I think the SMITHS play into this MARSHALL family, in some way because Joseph, Sr. was living right next to Rev. Jordan SMITH in JC in 1820. I think Joseph married Sarah GIBSON as a December marriage and probably because she had some money. <grin> That's the way a lot of this worked back then but I do not think she was the mother of Mahala MARSHALL -- too old and she did not marry him in a time frame to be Mahaha's mother. I still have some questions on this family but it is getting clearer. Also note, my GGF, Robert Williams DANIEL (1809-1865) and his younger brother, James Lane DANIEL (1814-1857) were living right next to Joseph MARSHALL, Jr. (ABT 1785-1852) in 1850. Did I tell you that we had added one more child to the family of Robert C. DANIEL and Penelope LANE -- the parents of these two boys? Chesley C. DANIEL (ABT 1815-AFT 1850) who married an Anne, and who signed RWD's 1841 marriage bond to Julia in Richmond County, GA was his brother. This from the notes of Hugh Buckner JOHNSTON.     3. Dawn, I knew that Etheldred SMITH and Noah SMITH (ABT 1775-AFT 1820) were related back in Green County, NC but I did not know exactly how. Now, I do and I think Noah SMITH who was living next to Robert W. DANIEL was either a son of Rev. Jordan SMITH (ABT 1777-1835) or more likely his brother, Noah, Sr. (ABT 1775-AFT 1820) If Etheldred lived until 1843, he must have been around 90 or more. I think that Noah and Jordan were about the same age as RWD's father, Robert C. DANIEL (ABT 1765-AFT 1830), maybe a few years younger, so their father, Etheldred SMITH would have had to be born ABT 1750. Maybe we do not have this family exactly laid out, correctly, yet, but this matches all that I know from Green County, NC. John R.
