I believe Joseph was one of Burwell's uncles. In 1805-10 their two sons Daniel and Townsend moved to Kentucky. They both appear to have been involved with the Baptist Separatist movement with links to the Revs. John Goode, William Hickman and Eleazer Clay. After Joseph's death Obedience Elam Binns remarried about 1798 to a James Gates who also had ties to this movement.
