Reference William Spears: I have John Spears born in Greene CO, of Jasper CO 1787-1858, whose wife was Mary Amelia Polly Jones 1793/97-1850. Both died in Jasper and came there from Greene CO. She was the dau of William Jones SR of Jasper CO (removed from Greene CO). I have her full up-line to Colonial Virginia. John Spears and his wife had the following children: Adeline b. 1830 Jane b. 1832 Sarah b. 1834 Robert b. 1820 John b. 1818 Thomas b. 1825 Robert Spears married Mary ? Their children were; William Spears born 1845 John Spears born 1849 Thomas Spears married Mary Catherine Jones abt 1845 These are the Spears in my data base. The above listed Birth dates are not proven. Suggest you find these names in the Jasper CO census of 1830, 1840, 1850 for further research, Also the Greene CO census 1830, 1820, 1810 to trace John Spears' ancestry. Many folks came to Greene/Wilkes CO from Virginia circa 1780-1820 for land grants on the frontier. I would suspect that John Spears was one and you might find him in a Roots Webb search prior to 1810. Hope this helps. Bill Jones
